Everybody is talking about Apple this week. We should be talking about Microsoft.
Apple hit a milestone last week, becoming the first company to achieve a market valuation of $1 trillion. Between the usual anti-capitalist banalities Oh, inequality! Corporate concentration! The shrinking middle class! The horrifying spectacle of Asian people working in manufacturing jobs! there have been a few mildly awestruck appreciations of the fact that, not so very long ago, Apple was on the verge of bankruptcy, about 90 days away from running out of cash, according to the late Steve Jobs. Apple was so diminished that there were rumors that it was going to become a small and not especially important division of Sony. . . snip
We live in an age of wonders, full of new and delightful things made possible by the beneficial collision between imagination, intelligence, and money that we call, for lack of a better word, capitalism. But it also is an age full of old and familiar things: envy, resentment, ignorance, fear, greed, laziness, mediocrity.

Written in his usual snarky, condescending style. Awful.
AAPL is 9 trillion short of becoming the first company to reach the 10 trillion mark!
A very good article by Kevin D. Williamson. Thanks for posting.
Capitalism BUMP!
bkmk
AAPL just hit $207 ... one guy in Barrons thinks it will go up another 20%. Would be nice.
Percy Shelley’s “Ozymandias”
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert... near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal these words appear:
‘My name is Ozymandias, king of kings;
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!’
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
Does President Trump come to mind?
I often thought (hopefully) about Ozymandias during Obama’s reign.
Kevin Williamson is a vile, Trump-hating douchebag. He won't get another one of my clicks. EVER.
I was the most loyal Mark Levin listener on Earth. Never missed a show for years. Waited on line for him to sign a book -- twice. Haven't tuned in ONCE in over 2 years since he turned on Trump.
I do not forget and I do not forgive.
Elaborate, please.

Excellent!
If Steve Jobs still the head of Apple, he would also be in that line headed by Harvey Weinstein and Matt Lauer...
He screwed over his partner Steve Wozniak and many, many more.
I have always thought of old Ozy as a male.
Now that you ask, a rotund wretch, and some androgynous thing comes to mind.
I thought it was obvious but Trump can make the same boast. The press sure does despair at his many and astounding successes.
