As Europe wanes, the distance between it and America grows

According to Pew International polls, Trump is now intensely disliked in Europe. His endless spats over European trade, the costs of NATO, and differing approaches to Vladimir Putin’s Russia acerbated already tense U.S.–European relations. But Trump neither created European or transatlantic crises nor can be of much help in solving them. In part, they are Western in origin and to a degree shared by all Western allies, but mostly they are innate to Europe and self-induced.

We often refer to the “West” of nearly 1.5 billion people without really defining it or appreciating just how predominant Europe should be in all matters Western. In terms of population, the contemporary West consists of mainland Europe (circa 500 million — depending on how the borders of Europe are defined), the United States (325 million), the Anglosphere of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand (130 million), and major Westernized, industrial, and democratic countries in Asia, most notably Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea (200 million), along perhaps with South American nations such as Argentina, Chile, and Brazil (265 million).

Trump is not a socialist/communist. Aren’t many Europeans exactly that? I was stationed in Germany, from 80 to 84. I was already questioning our relations with Western Europe, even then.

I don’t think that God’s punishment on europe (esp Germany) for the holocaust will be limited just to defeat in WW2, and the temporary partition of that country.

Prior to WW2, Germany had a prideful delusion of superiority because of their military capability.

Since WW2, Germany has had a prideful delusion of superiority based on their LACK of military capability.

The last thing they consider is the “fear of the Lord” in any of their decisions about their country.

Pride goeth before fall. And Germany and europe are hurtling towards a mighty fall.

Pray for President Trump !

Trump isn’t Europe’s president. He’s our president. Whether or not the Europeans like him means less than nothing.

Germany's bankers/globalists/elitists are fighting (and winning) WW3. They're doing it by buying of leaders of nearby countries, then enslaving them with impossible debt and invaders who don't accept the values of their new countries. In time, the new Europe's wars will be fought with those invaders.

Over a century, what Germany most probably will have accomplished is replacing its Jews with those of a religion that doesn't support traditional European culture, but will accept a harsher more regulated society with less individual freedoms.

Interesting view
In addition to their lack of military capabiity, also perceive that Germans have a smug superiority about their lack of energy self- sufficiency
They depend on the US, UK and France to militarily defend western interests, and use their money to import energy - now increasingly from Russia
I have yet to figure out Merkel’s plan for obliterating German culture with a vast horde of 3d world ill-educated unassimilable military age men - but having a large standing army hostile to Judeao-Christians to send into the East sometime in the future - could be a plan
Only a pig headed German ( yes I descend from them) could think they have much to be smug about

As in Europe, so here
I think Trumps unpopularity polls are a product of the elitists- and vastly underrate the admiration he holds from middle class working people - as shown by the rise of rightist movements in most of the EU and Britain

“In Europe, official immigration policy is still at odds with voters.”

The usual VDH understatement. In fact, in much of Europe, they are JAILING PEOPLE who disagree with their open borders policies.

It’s horrible there...and the leaders who control their ‘justice’ systems are using it to make sure that things only get worse, much worse.

That VDH article is brilliant. It makes sense of seemingly chaotic strands of demography, culture and geopolitics. Thanks for posting it.

Despite being fairly highbrow prose, it is well worth reading the whole piece.

Here’s what could happen in the near future, particularly if NATO stays in its current form.

Ferment, riots maybe even uprisings by groups of traditional Europeans ever increasingly Moslem dominated governments. These increasingly oppressed European populations plead for outside help & support. Authoritarian/autocratic (even Fascist!) but Orthodox Christian (in practice & culture) intervenes to save fellow Christians in Europe. Central Europe (including Poland!) either participates or gives both direct and/or indirect support. The US due to our NATO treaty obligations is now faced with intervening militarily to save Europe for Islam!

Could someone post the link to the printer version? I’ve run out of free articles at this publication.

The great curse — and boon — of Europe has always been traced to its diversity.
A nice dig at one of the Left's mantras. The continent is about the same size as the United States, but Europe currently is divided among some 44 nations.

I used to argue with the smug Euros over their bragging about speaking more than one language and how we were so "provincial".

I pointed out that I could travel North/South over 1,200 miles or East/West over 3,000 miles and still be able to speak the same language. With the same situation in Europe, there would be three or more languages involved. They HAD to learn multiple tongues because they were so fragmented and that they were trying to pass off a weakness as a strength.

Always remember Jean-Francois Revel’s acerbic comment:

“The dark night of fascism is always descending in the United States and yet lands only in Europe.”

...”Whether or not the Europeans like Trump means less than nothing.”

Wild-fires in California have prompted their governor to request federal aid and more recently asking for specific area to be declared disaster zones. Aside from the state governments extreme anti-Trump position, is their mindset so entitled to think “Washington wouldn’t dare refuse us”?

Using the above example, will Europe continue business as usual, with a mindset similar to California’s, that the USA will continue to answer calls for commercial-military assistance ... with no European reciprocity nor accountability.
