Portland mayor selects first African American woman to be next chief of police

I know this won’t happen in a million years, but her first act as Police Chief should be to arrest the mayor for ordering the police not to provide safety to ICE agents.

If she is serious about the police job, which entails identifying, catching, and incarcerating criminals, she will remove criminals who victimize communities of color, improving relationships with the many sane Americans in those neighborhoods. She will hire officers who can interact with persons of all political viewpoints, common languages, and honorable occupations, increasing diversity if appropriate, enabling the police force to identify and apprehend foreign criminals who prey on newly arrived immigrants. Moreover, she will embrace equity, keeping anyone from blocking the streets for weeks without proper authorization and good purpose (usually road repair and reconstruction) and leaving large mounds of litter, even if they happen to be smelly, white, and liberal.

PS: I seriously doubt that Portland in Oregon would hire a competent police chief serious about fairly enforcing the law and removing masses of litter and filth that block the streets and make neighborhoods unpleasant or even unlivable.
