President Donald Trump signaled his support Thursday for work requirements for food stamps.
When the House and Senate meet on the very important Farm Bill we love our farmers hopefully, they will be able to leave the WORK REQUIREMENTS FOR FOOD STAMPS PROVISION that the House approved, Trump wrote on Twitter.
The House version of the farm bill barely passed with a vote of 213-211 and included work requirements for single food stamp recipients. Democrats voted unanimously against the bill.
The House and the Senate have to take the bill to conference, however, which will likely strip the provision from the final bill to get past the 60 vote threshold.
Trump urged the Senate to end the filibuster and move the legislation forward.
Senate should go to 51 votes! he wrote.
The current Farm Bill expires September 30.

Didn’t Clinton institute this, for it to be quietly undone by Obama thru Executive Order?
Yep. One of the many outrages 0bozo did.
How about no federal aid? Leave it ALL to the states.
5 more points added to the approval rating.
Will that include illegals, of which more than 80 percent are on welfare?
Watching Hannity and Newt was on.
Does anyone know why Trump has not released all the documents that would incriminate hillary and obama, and free him of all this investigation? He can declassify them.. he can release them.. why hasn’t he?
if reasonably able to work, they should have to get a job (even part time)
this should be done now.
and next, the entire federal welfare bureaucrappy needs to be cut... and any genuinely-needed programs released to the states to decide, do (states are the general sovereigns not the fed govt, and states can usually do a much better job of such things to begin with)...
Not sure why but I trust President Trump.
President Trump has given us great victories. I trust his plan.
But what does Jim Acosta think?
I worked very hard for my money, with more 14 hour days than most welfare recipients can imagine. If leftists want the government to take money from those who work hard and give it to those who produce far less, the least they could do is work full time.
Did you just hear Levin? What Trump should tell mueller.. I gave him a hand on that one!
Levin: Tell him what he is doing is unconstitutional.. we are not going to bow to you ...it’s over.. and get out of my office... and don’t let the door hit your a$$.
As a former food stamp man (that is really what most of my Florida customers called me when I worked for the Dept. of Chilfren and Familys in the late 90s) I was constantly amazed at what lengths some people would go to get food stampsjust to turn them into money for drugs and booze. We actually changed to the EBT card while I was there and I recall a call from a local grocery store manager saying a customer bought a couple hundred dollars worth of shrimp on their card and came right back in the store to ger a refund in cash. The manager refused and I said he was right to do it but if they come back again offer them $20 for me, I love shrimp.
Novel idea.. getting money for doing something instead of nothing.
That might actually work !
I speak with folks on food stamps on a weekly basis as an intake interviewer at a local food bank. The amount of fraud folks freely tell me about is amazing.
Working will do them a lot of good.
I could write a book...
Woe did you pull that stat out of your ass?
“Work ??!!!??”

In fact, when we were with you, we instructed you that if anyone was unwilling to work, neither should that one eat. (2 Thessalonians 3:10)
Won’t not can’t. Sometimes again some unfortunates send out resumes all over and nobody seems to care. Christendom has a valid role in addressing this from the employment end in such cases, rather than just telling those people they sink or swim with the world.
Um, not if it needs 60 votes.
Requiring a certain level of valid activity with UI-style job search makes sense. However, even the FDR era realized that frank “make work” is needed in some cases. It’s easy for fortunate conservatives to compare every case to their own, and that’s not always valid.
