Despite strong condemnations of the Trump administration for what he calls the growing wage inequality among Americans, AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka on Wednesday refused to rule out his union endorsing President Donald Trump for re-election in 2020.
Well, he will be looked at [for the labor endorsement], Trumka told Newsmax, Everyone [of the presidential candidates] will be looked at.
Pressed as to how serious he was about the AFL-CIO considering not endorsing the Democratic nominee for president for the first time since 1972, Trumka insisted we will consider every candidate whos running in 2020.
Recalling the last presidential race, the union chief pointed out that Trump got 3 percent more of our members than [Republican nominee Mitt] Romney did in 2012, but Hillary Clinton, unfortunately for her, got 10 percent less of our members than Obama did in 2012. And some didnt vote for President or some voted third party.
Trump gained among union members, Trumka felt, because people were mad. They were looking for someone who was going to change the economy. They felt there were assaults on their health care and assaults on their pensions. People were looking for someone who will shake up the status quo, because the economy wasnt working for them. Their wages were flattened and they found that candidate in Donald Trump.
Trump, Trumka said, promised to lift up workers and reign in Wall Street.
He did add, however, that Trump is going in the right direction on trade and [the AFL-CIO] totally supports a rewrite of NAFTA.

Trump has single-handedly stopped Coal Country from assuming third-world status.
Trumka can hardly oppose him without annihilating his own base of support.
Trumka is just jerking a few chains. He must have a list of legislation he wants from his hirelings if they seize control of Congress in November. He has no more intention of endorsing Trump than I have of endorsing Dick Durbin.
The EXTORTIONISTS react.....
I’m sure Trumka has gotten an earful from the rank-and-file.
UAM member here. They represent me but I do not take political advice from them!! MAGA!
The rank and file still remember the paucity of jobs during the Obama administration, and are seeing their family fortunes and well being increase during the early part of the first Trump administration.
As an aside, might the WALL be built by union hands?
No matter what the bosses say, the working man will vote Trump.
Our President is the first since Jackson to stand up for the common man with no regard for the bosses
For the unions, Democrat liberalism far “trumps” much anything else.
The Labor Movement?
More like a bowel movement.
Proofreading? Priceless!
Scott Adams of “Dilbert” fame predicted all of this.
LMAO! Democrats have no scruples. They even shake down their own.
I’m sure it’s going to depend on who the Democrats run.
It would be great to see that bastard ousted as President.
Don’t hold your breath on the AFL/CIO not endorsing the democrat, whoever it will be....
Won’t matter if it turns out Unions end up doing far better under Trump then they have in decades....
If anything this is just the AFL/CIO leveraging the Dems for more power in the next cycle.
If the GOP can secure the “rust belt” the Democrats cannot win another National election.
This is a Union Shakedown.
They are trying to push the RATS to doing something to block Trump.
Now members....I highly suspect many are backing Trump.
Same as Reagan in ‘80 and ‘84.
The Union Brass can’t force the rank-and-file to vote the way they want them to vote.
