Life Lesson: Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a rising star in the increasingly far-Left Democratic Party, has been running from TV show to TV show proclaiming the joys of socialism.
During a recent appearance on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, she offered a rambling ‘defense’ of an economic model that revolves around government theft and redistribution — taking from those who are the most productive and giving to those who are the least productive.
In the end, as British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher once observed of the socialist economic model, you will always run out of other people’s money.
Ocasio-Cortez, a Boston University-trained economist, is just the latest young socialist who thinks she has the magic formula to finally make this never-before-successful economic model work.

I used to have faith in the people. Then, they (we) elected Obama a second time. My faith is now bruised.

This woman went to a university? It should be sued for malpractice for turning out an idiot like her.
It has not failed — it has worked EXACTLY as the elites who advocate it and run it want it to work.
She’s not listening cuz she can’t hear anything else over the sound of how awesome she thinks she is. I’m sure her response will be that it just hasn’t been implemented properly and that it wasn’t real socialism much like any Marxist countries that butchered so many millions of people didn’t practice true Marxism
Send her to Venezula. See how she likes it there.
The Republicans need to bring him to the US to tell the whole country about this failure. Can you imagine him being invited to appear on CNN?
I lived in Venezuela in the 73 and 74, working the drilling rigs in Lake Maracaibo. Venezuela had a thriving economy with oil half the price it is today and this is an inflation adjusted price.
A socialist, Marxist, dictatorship has destroyed and ruined that once nice nation.
They don’t have “real socialism”
It should work swell here in the USA if they can just run the place. If there are a few rough spots, well, they can always apply the Che Guevara solution. They can fix pock marked walls later. It will help keep the proletariat gainfully employed. Everybody will be happy.
I think that “O-C” is an indicator. A degree from BU should not be taken at face value. Check transcripts and grades before hiring a graduate of BU. Of course that is why Obama sealed all records. They revealed a hollow, shallow “man that never was.”
You assume that she is ignorant about the failures of Socialism? She isn’t. She is as much of true believer as she is a Bronx native. She is a liar trying to perpetuate a system that will afford her almost unlimited power over her fellow man. That is the purpose of socialism.
You mention that she is after “unlimited power”, but in my post, I said this:
“But, socialism is not about helping the poor and the needy; it’s about control. Socialism eventually turns into communism, and deep in their hearts, all socialists are communists.”
In other words, it’s about control of the people, which amounts to the same as “unlimited power”.
Socialism is about promises in order to attain complete control of the people and the economy and the country, and to achieve that end, they inevitably need to turn to complete control: aka: communism.
That doesn’t surprise me in the least. I was a Russian linguist in the early part of my Army career and I heard the same kind of things from Russians and escapees from other Eastern European countries.
Later in my career, I taught counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations to US and foreign intelligence officers, including quite a few from Africa. One of them, “Zindoga” - an officer from Zimbabwe, and I became pretty good friends. He was at my quarters one evening after dinner when a news story came on about Nelson Mandela. “Z” looked at me and asked, “Tell me my friend, why are Americans so fond of Nelson Mandela? Don’t they realize he’s a communist?”
