Manafort trial to focus on lavish lifestyle, not collusion
Associated Press ^ | Jul. 30, 2018 10:11 AM EDT | Eric Tucker and Chad Day

The trial of President Donald Trump’s onetime campaign chairman will open this week with tales of lavish spending, secret shell companies and millions of dollars of Ukrainian money flowing through offshore bank accounts and into the political consultant’s pocket.

What’s likely to be missing: answers about whether the Trump campaign coordinated with the Kremlin during the 2016 presidential election, or really any mention of Russia at all.

Paul Manafort’s financial crimes trial, the first arising from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, will center on his Ukrainian consulting work and only briefly touch on his involvement with the president’s campaign.

But the broader implications are unmistakable. …

Typical Dissociated Press, “broader implications”. Innuendo is all they have, and Mueller has even less.

Substitute “Clinton” for “Manafort,” and you have the same case.

A lavish lifestyle is illegal? Is this how they plan to get Trump?

It sounds exactly like the Clinton Foundation but in that case it would be hundreds of millions of dollars from foreign governments.

Substitute Barrack Obama or any of his cohorts when it comes to lavish lifestyles considering what they started with. Then again, list all the members of Congress who started with nothing and are now multi-millionaires. How about starting with Madd Maxine or even Mueller and his Witch Hunt team? Could be thousands of trials don’t ya think?

If a lavish lifestyle is one of Manafort’s “shortcomings”. The same can be said for about 99% of the other Swamp Dwellers!

Manafort is a sleazy DC Swamp-dweller. He probably has done unseemly and perhaps illegal (at least technically illegal) things. But so have thousands of other lobbyists. To single him out is exactly what Ayn Rand wrote about using selective prosecution as a political tool. And to focus on his “lavish” lifestyle fits right in with that type of political prosecution. Manafort got rich as a Swamp-dweller. In essence, let’s prosecute him for that because he worked for the wrong side. And let’s give Podesta a pass while we’re at it. The whole thing reeks. And is a sign of our times.

A plain, garden variety tax evasion case. Nothing more.

I’m hoping Manafort implicates the Podesta brothers in some kind of collusion and money laundering over their Ukraine/Russia dealings.

It’s Monday. I have all week to come back to reality.

For months the left has been gloating about indictments and repeating, 'x number of former Trump associates are under indictment'.

What they want are CONVICTIONS so they can say, 'former campaign director Paul Manafort has been CONVICTED' to promote their 'guilt by association' narrative.

It's highly likely Manfort will be convicted of something and the Democrat Media Complex will have the talking point they wanted.

If Trump or Russian collusion is mentioned by Mueller and his team I hope the Manafort team asks for lots of Mueller team members including Mueller to testify.

Look into Dirty Harry Reid’s accumulation of wealth. Lots of good targets there.

Manafort is toast, Trump is toast... “sources” are saying there are witnesses willing to testify under oath, that Manafort has brazenly used plastic straws and knows Trump has too. It’s over folks!
