Veteran journalist Dan Rather said on Friday that President Trumps false statements about and attacks on the media are "straight out of Orwell."
The former longtime CBS News anchor told CNNs Don Lemon that Trump is "authoritarian" and wants people to believe that "the one and only truth comes from him."

"As several people have said before me, he is not just attacking the truth, he wants to annihilate the truth," the former anchor added. "He wants to move us completely into the post-truth political era in which theres no such thing as objective facts."
Rather added that there "has been some desperation" in Trump's recent attacks ... "And as he gets more desperate he takes bigger risks in telling bigger lies or more often telling lies. And telling people, 'look, dont believe what you read or see anywhere else, just come to me. I have the ultimate truth, I am the way,' " Rather said.

Dan Rather is a moron. Like all good liberals-progressives, they fail to look at themselves in the mirror when they make these statements, all the time. They never examine themselves. How about news media being a propaganda organ of a state political party, Dan?
Pretentious bullsh*t. Another legend in his own mind. Your last self obsessed reply mentioned all of recorded history. Are you also immortal?
on top of all if the other errors you’ve made in this thread in just a few replies, you’re also arguing a ridiculous (not to mention boring) point.
Orwell is the rat and RINO government combined with a complicit media.
Stupid Rather.
Sounds like Kenneth still doesn’t know the frequency.
I remember the gold ‘ole days, when Dan Blather would go to the Gulf Coast or the Carolinas just as a hurricane was making landfall.
There would be ‘ole Danny boy on camera, wearing a hoodie and struggling to stand up while grabbing a street lamp, looking like a drunken old whore.
Wonder if anyone thought of building a Dan Rather sex bot just to bend it over and......
Even a few libs caught on earlier, one such creating “reporter Dan Randall” in the then chilling to me Babylon 5 episode “The Illusion of Truth”, in 1997.
OT: I just noticed that episode was directed by the late Stephen Furst.
Mr. “Fake but True” defending the whole Fake-but-True enterprise.....can’t make this crap up....
There once was a government supervisor who hired his mistress into a slightly lower supervisory position. The employees in line for that position sued, and later they were caught in a Monica Lewinsky pose.
The senior government supervisor had been doing everything in his power to keep this situation to his advantage.
By the time this sordid affair worked its way through, six people were dead.
Fill in the rest of the details. If the press didn’t make stuff up to cover what had been happening You will know. There was, afterall a lawsuit in the middle of this so it wasn’t hard to figure out.l
on the other hand, if you don’t know, if you cannot fill in the details...then the mainstream press as a whole has been part and parcel of bigger crap than the TANG story.
Dan Who?
That bastard told America lies about the Viet Nam War from Siagon!
Rather Biased, no? ...
Dan, Dan - whats straight out of Orwell is monopoly journalism in lockstep with the head of the government. Not what we have with Trump, certainly what we had with Obama - and Clinton.
Do any of these demwits have a thought of their own or do they ALL follow the dem talking points using the same words?
No joke. Big Brother WAS the media, for pete's sake.
I bet the schmuck has never even sat down with the book.
The man who laid the cornerstone (and many an egg) of the 'fake but accurate' empire.
Why his is mouth puckered like that?
Whose bung is he about to kiss this time??
