I know this dockage well, it is in Huron, Oh. about eight nautical miles east from Sandusky/Cedar point. We have docked there many times and quite frequently larger yachts would be tied up on the wall, which was accessible for them, a good in and out with maneuverability. What is odd is that there is a lot of activity on that wall, lots of boating traffic, a restaurant right beside the area where they would have had to be docked, people always on the wall. So I dont know how vandals were able to untie a yacht this size without being noticed.
I guarantee you there is camera video of the perps................
"...without being noticed..."
I wonder if there was any other form of security besides the eyes of the public and possibly cameras?
I used to keep my boat at the World’s Fair Marina in Flushing Bay, NYC in the 80s. There was a securityt firm contracted by the marina but even so, we were experiencing a rash of thefts. It was at that time that myself and other owners realized exactly what our problem was. We were expecting low paid, unarmed square badgers to possibly put their own safety at risk to protect our substantial assets. Not a wise move. After talks with the marina operators, it was decided to hire guards with dogs. It’s a lot easier for a guard to unclip a leash and a much faster response. The thefts ceased.
