CNN is, predictably, in wall-to-wall coverage this morning of the tape of a conversation between then-candidate Trump and Michael Cohen that Cohens lawyer Lanny Davis has provided to the network.
But amidst all the fevered speculation about what was said on the tape and what the legal and political ramifications might be, CNN political analyst David Gregory did offer this reality check on Cohen:
This is pretty seedy on his part, as a lawyer, to record his client. And I think the President will have a constituency saying: who is this guy and why did he do that?

Flying pig alert: David Gregory says it was “pretty seedy” for Cohen to have secretly taped his client Trump.
Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.
What am I going to do now? I actually agree with Gregory on something.
I know: it’s very troubling. ;-)
Scary in’t it?
Pretty sleazy for Collusion, Never New to run this feature 24/7
Not as seedy as publishing the clandestine tape, which is what CNN chose to do.
That’s exactly why this will backfire on these media scumbags. I’m pretty sure the low information voter doesn’t know or care about the contents of the tape, but I bet they DON’T like the idea that someone’s lawyer taped discussions with their client, that some biased “prosecutor” was able to raid said lawyer and scarf up those tapes and THEN the tapes “mysteriously” leak to - of all people, CNN, Trump’s arch enemy in the media.
That’s SO blatantly unfair and un-American I think that even some leftists might disapprove of it (as witnessed, of course, by Gregory’s comment).
Quoth Shakespeare:
“The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.”
Seedy lawyers do seedy things. Perhaps Trump could/should have chosen better as choices have consequences.
I can see taping a conversation so you don’t miss any details but after your information is typed up the tape should be destroyed. Did they do an illegal search to get this tape?
Trump should issue a statement: “You should just assume everything you say to an attorney is being recorded and could be made public.”
It would run the legal system.
The question I asked yesterday and which I haven’t seen an answer to is, What is Cohen’s motivation for doing this?
Clinton rapes Juanita Broderick: yawn
I’d like to know why he was taping his client? Was he already under Mueller’s control? The case against Cohen is from crimes he alledgedly committed years ago? Was the deep state working early to stop Trump? Is this THE insurance policy?
President Trump should certainly have some recourse against both Cohen and CNN. If nothing else, the Supreme Court should intervene.
Never have liked Gregory, but his observation is spot on. What ever happened to the Canons Of Ethics?
As for CNN - sleaze is sleaze ...
It is pretty seedy of CNN to provide wall-to-wall coverage of a nothing burger.
In their predictable, constant, negative spin on all news Trump, CNN has been tedious and repetitious, in other words, boring.
Why or how is CNN still on the air?
...Quoth Shakespeare:
The first thing we do, lets kill all the lawyers...
That’s always a tantalizing quote.
But, putting that into the play’s context,
Dick the Bitcher’s Utopian idea to kill all England’s lawyers is his addition to the promises of the traitorous Jack Cade, who envisions a quasi-communistic social revolution, with himself installed as autocrat.
What happened to attorney-client privilege?
