A Fear of Lawsuits Really Does Seem to Result in Extra Medical Tests Doctors are known for complaining about how the malpractice system adds costs. But it has been hard to prove, until now. By Margot Sanger-Katz July 23, 2018 NYT take on Gruber.

Gosh gee.. suppose it helps that the majority of the study patients are younger than 30? This is precisely why science has lost its credibility, peddling pharmaceuticals.
I have not had a flu shot for decades.. and I have not had the flu either. This Mengele experimentation has got to stop. There are a handful of vaccines I am all for.

That could be. I knew a number of officers who bought health insurance out of pocket because they would not (this is pre CHAMPUS/TRICARE) subject their wives and children to the military medical system. Extreme distrust of the Army health system used to be common. MacArthur, for instance would have nothing to do with them while in CONUS and believed the slow witted complacent way his younger brother , a Navy officer, heart attack was handled led to his unnecessary death. I personally saw and was subject to medical treatment I would never tolerate in a civilian institution. In the military I was basically told ‘shut up and go away you little puke or I'll give some real trouble. (This from a hospital service corps Master Sergeant.).

Military medicine is not-for-profit while civilian medicine is profit driven. So is it really the fear of liability driving all the tests? Or the money that doctors make by prescribing them?

Active-duty patients seeking treatment from military facilities cannot sue for harms resulting from negligent care, Medical personal who administer negligent care to military members can find themselves making big rocks into little rocks in Leavenworth.
Think that might have some sort of motivation in making sure you give them top notch care?

So based on this study, we should offer doctors complete immunity from lawsuits, correct?
