Normally I would be the first to bash these officers for reckless conduct, but in this case I agree with what they did, it is very tragic and if I was her Family I would be looking for a quick and quiet settlement from the city and probably would NOT have any ill feelings to the Police.

But let's not suggest that there may be a smidgen of potential for improvement in tactics, training, or attitudes of our heros in blue.
