It looks like the customer was never named. There is no case for libel or slander. However the restaurant needs to give the guy free meals for life.

Khalil Cavil undoubtedly used the person’s name when sharing the hoax with coworkers.
Restaurant employees can ascertain the name based on day/date/amount information. It is damaging to the patron.

They may not have been in a regular news source, but that doesn't mean they weren't all over social media... That would have to be verified.
