Keith Ellison Demands Amazon Stop Selling Books the SPLC Hates
PJ Media ^ | July 23, 2018 | Robert Spencer

Posted on 07/23/2018 3:51:07 PM PDT by jazusamo

Last week, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), the deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, wrote to Amazon.com’s Jeff Bezos , demanding that he no longer sell at Amazon any material that the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) dislikes. Yes, it has come to this.

Ellison’s letter to Bezos focuses on an alleged neo-Nazi’s material being sold at Amazon and published through Amazon’s self-publishing service. However, Ellison makes clear that his intentions are far more sweeping, particularly with his opening gambit:

I am writing to you with my concerns about the amount of money Amazon has made from the sale of literature and music published by entities identified as “hate groups” by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

Clearly Ellison wants Amazon, which has a near-monopoly on U.S. book sales, to stop selling books by people designated as “hate groups” by the SPLC. And, just as the establishment media does, Ellison presents the SPLC as a reliable, unbiased arbiter of what is and isn’t a “hate group.”

The SPLC has, for a considerable period, enjoyed unquestioned magisterial authority in the establishment media. But the SPLC’s far-Left bias and determination to destroy conservative groups by lumping them in with neo-Nazis and white supremacists has been gradually exposed in recent years. Its credibility then took a serious hit recently, when a court ordered the SPLC to pay over three million dollars to a liberal Muslim whom it had smeared as an “anti-Muslim extremist.”

Ellison, however, takes it for granted that the SPLC is reliable, and assumes that Bezos does as well. He is likely correct: the far-Left Bezos almost certainly agrees with Ellison that the SPLC is a reliable authority. It is entirely possible that Bezos will comply with Ellison’s demands by purging Amazon of all materials by people that the SPLC has smeared and defamed.

Among the questions Ellison asks Bezos is this:

Will Amazon stop publishing physical and digital materials from SPLC-identified hate groups in the next three months?

Given Amazon’s dominance of the book market, Amazon’s compliance with this demand would be a serious blow to the freedom of speech. This would also come as the SPLC is engaged in an all-out attempt to delegitimize the full spectrum of opinions which dissent from the Leftist agenda on Islam, immigration, social issues, and more.

If Amazon drops SPLC-designated “hate” material, there should ensue a national discussion about whether the SPLC is really a reliable authority, and whether only one viewpoint should be allowed in the public square. If not, this will just be another nail in the coffin of the freedom of speech in the United States.

Ellison has spoken at a convention of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). ISNA has actually admitted its ties to Hamas, which styles itself the Palestinian arm of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Justice Department actually classified ISNA among entities “who are and/or were members of the US Muslim Brotherhood.”

It gets worse. In 2008, Ellison accepted $13,350 from the Muslim American Society (MAS) to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca. The Muslim American Society is a Muslim Brotherhood organization:

In recent years, the U.S. Brotherhood operated under the name Muslim American Society, according to documents and interviews. One of the nation’s major Islamic groups, it was incorporated in Illinois in 1993 after a contentious debate among Brotherhood members.

That’s from the Chicago Tribune in 2004 , in an article now carried on the Muslim Brotherhood’s English-language site Ikhwanweb .

The Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) raised large amounts of cash for Ellison’s first congressional campaign. He has spoken at numerous CAIR events. Yet CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case -- so named by the Justice Department. CAIR officials have repeatedly refused to denounce Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist groups.

Will the freedom of speech be done in by this man?

While the answer to the question is playing out, strike a blow for the freedom of thought: preorder my new book The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS while you still can. It tells truths about Islam and jihad that Keith Ellison and the SPLC don’t want you to know: Click here .

"Ellison’s first brush with controversy came a few months into his freshmen year. After joining the student newspaper, the South End, he persuaded the editor to publish a cartoon featuring five identical black men dribbling a basketball alongside a man in a Klan robe who was clutching a club. Above it was a question: “How many Honkies are in this picture?” It was meant to poke fun at racial caricatures, but students didn’t see the humor. An African American classmate stormed into the newspaper’s office to confront him—a scene Ellison breezily recounted in a follow-up column mocking the outcry. His critics were “still living in the Jim Crow era,” Ellison wrote. The firestorm made the pages of the Detroit Free Press. . .

When the Africana Student Cultural Center sponsored speeches by Farrakhan and one of his associates, tensions erupted on campus between Jews and African Americans. Ellison, who had taken to calling himself “Keith Hakim,” published a series of op-eds in the student paper, the Minnesota Daily, defending the Nation of Islam leader. The center also invited Kwame Ture, the black-power activist formerly known as Stokely Carmichael, to give a speech, during which he called Zionism a form of white supremacy. Ellison, then a member of the Black Law Student Association, introduced him. In the hopes of mending fences, the university organized a series of conversations between black students and Jewish groups. Ellison could be deferential at these meetings. He thankedd Jewish students for sticking up for black students’ right to host controversial campus speakers—even if they had denounced those speakers—and suggested working together on common political causes. But he also insisted the charges that Ture was racist were unfounded. Michael Olenick, a Jewish student who clashed with Ellison and who was the opinions editor at the Daily, recalled Ellison maintaining that an oppressed group could not be racist toward Jews because Jews were themselves oppressors. “European white Jews are trying to oppress minorities all over the world,” Olenick remembers Ellison arguing. “Keith would go on all the time about ‘Jewish slave traders.'” Another Jewish student active in progressive politics recalled Ellison’s incredulous response to the controversy over Zionism. “What are you afraid of?” Ellison asked. “Do you think black nationalists are gonna get power and hurt Jews?”. . .

Ellison envisioned a unified front of young black people, white progressive students, organized labor, and American Indians pushing back against the evils of capitalism and white supremacy. “The more the right attacks, the more we have to respond.”. . .He also read everything he could of Frantz Fanon, the Marxist anti-colonialist writer from Martinique, including the "Wretched of the Earth". He read Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals". He read lawyers who fought for justice like Clarence Darrow and William Kunstler. He admired local legal heroes like Bill Goodman, George Crockett, and John Conyers, "I wanted to be like them".[7]. . .

1992–Ellison appears as speaker at demonstration against Minneapolis police with Vice Lords leader Sharif Willis following the murder of Officer Haaf by four Vice Lords gangsters in September. . .The various themes of Ellison's public commitments and associations all came together in a February 2000 speech he gave at a fundraising event sponsored by the Minnesota chapter of the far-left National Lawyers Guild, on whose steering committee he had served. The event was a fundraiser for former Symbionese Liberation Army member Kathleen Soliah after her apprehension in St. Paul (under the name "Sara Jane Olson") for the attempted murder of Los Angeles police officers in 1975. . .

Keith Ellison penned an article in the Communist Party USA's People's World of August 29, 2014, on the rise of "people's movements" in the United States. . .":Keith Ellison

How many hordes of jihadis does Ellison command?

Just another headline from the hard left which will have voters pulling the Republican lever in November.

amazon needs to be given the ma-bell treatment. 1970s the bell telephone company was broken up into regional entities. because of there monopoly control in the united states. could you imagine there being 8 amazons as sepret companies centered on where there distribution points were.

I use Alibris books. It is a consortium of used book stores that also at times have new books in stock.

Prices including shipping often beats amazon.

and I have no problem paying shipping. People have to eat.

president Trump should tweet that it is a hate group. Boy that would make the liberal pointy heads explode. In such a tweet he should point out how rich the group is which is actually the antithesis of its name.

Yes, as a book lover I have used alibris and of course ABEbooks which was taken over by Amazon.

An old SF novel by Frederik Pohl I used to think was absurd is coming true. It predicted there will be Food, Pharma, Energy, etc. all owned by one powerful owner for each segment. Look at Kraft Foods, Nestle and a couple of others for incredible variety of brands they own. CVS almost had Walgreen’s recently. Look at the health care conglomerates.

It will make it easier for Bernie Sanders and Ocasio to design the total socialist ownership of them all. Hope not.

With Louis Farrakan.

And his other friends.

These evil terrorists all run in the same circles.

This photo was suppressed for over 10 years.

The media had it - they just hid it from the public.
