There are at least 12 audio tapes the government seized from President Donald Trump's former longtime lawyer Michael Cohen, a Monday court filing revealed.
Special master Barbara Jones wrote in a court filing to US District Judge Kimba Wood on Monday that privilege claims were withdrawn over 12 audio tapes in review — an action that could've been taken by either Cohen, Trump, or the Trump Organization.
As special master, Jones is tasked with overseeing the document review for privilege designations in the ongoing Cohen investigation taking place in the Southern District of New York.
Because the parties released their privilege claims over the tapes, they've been turned over to federal investigators probing Cohen, she wrote. It is unclear who appears on the tapes.
The existence of one of those 12 tapes was revealed on Friday when The New York Times reported that Cohen recorded a conversation with Trump just two months ahead of the 2016 election in which they discussed payments to former Playboy model Karen McDougal. That recording was among several the FBI seized in April when it raided Cohen's properties. Reporting of the tape's contents seemed to contradict the Trump campaign's past denial of any knowledge of such payments to McDougal.
Cohen is the focus of a criminal investigation into whether he violated campaign-finance laws, committed bank fraud or wire fraud, engaged in illegal lobbying, or participated in other crimes. The FBI seized more than 4 million documents in the April raids.

I think the legal system is dead. This is not good for the future. The way the Executive Branch is being attacked by the former president along with the losing candidate is unprecedented. This has ruined the process by design.

Been thinking about this and think they resisted sharing at first just to mess with everyone and it’s all likely nothing at all or possibly even favorable to DJT, which would kind of make the investigation look even more ridiculous.
All privilege claims have been reviewed by the Special Master before the prosecutors got access to the documents. So what isn't legal?
Mueller will stop at nothing to destroy Trump.
You do know that Mueller is not conducting the Cohen investigation, don't you? Cohen is being investigated not by the Special Counsel's office, but rather by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York (an office headed by a Trump appointee).
Nothing at all. Which is why Mueller is not conducting the Cohen investigation.
The issue being pushed by Mueller is that there was talk of payment to a model... not sure, their claims have been BS before, so do not know.

Florida, unlike New York, is a two or all party consent state - meaning for the recording to be legal all parties must consent to be recorded!
There is a good chance some of the phone calls Michael Cohen illicitly taped with Trump took place while Trump was physically in Florida (Mira-Laga being his second home)! Cohen could well be charged by Florida for illegally recording Trump unless Trump consented. Federal wiretap laws could also come into play vs Cohen since some of the recordings took place with the parties of the recording being in separate states.
Cohen could also get disbarred for this if he escapes criminal charges.
Doesn’t matter if its inadmissible. It will be leaked. If anything brings down Trump it would be this.

Its not. Its going to get much worse. The charges against Trump will be as specious as the FISA application the FBI conjured up. But that will suffice for the Democrats and their allies in the media.
Think about the fact that these people were brazen enough to organize a coup against a president. They first tried to derail his election, but when that didn’t work they doubled down.
Trump should have cleaned house at the DOJ long ago. That would have solved a lot of future problems.

When you hire a lawyer, the next thing you will hear is a Miranda warning from the lawyer.
The real question is how do you prove where the taping took place, unless on cell phone, or traceable phone. I have seen tapes over a phone that are untraceable, as to how w separate recorder & microphone, not using phone....it can be done.
Why Cohen would go that way would be suspicious though. Date of taping might be a clue to type used.The details will certainly be determining factor as to what laws might have been violated.
I live in one person consent state. We shall see how this plays out?
