An argument over a handicapped parking spot at a convenience store in Florida led to a fatal shooting and the man who pulled the trigger wont be arrested under the states stand your ground self-defense law, authorities said.
Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri told reporters during a Friday press conference that Thursdays shooting death of Markeis McGlockton, a 28-year-old father of three, is within the bookends of stand your ground and within the bookends of force being justified, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Im not saying I agree with it, but I dont make that call, Gualtieri told reporters, adding that his agency will now forward the case to the State Attorneys Office for a final decision.

YOU live in Ca, Around here Assault will get a response.
Especially when its because someone pointed out you broke the law.
Excuse me, but yer 24 years old and just parked in the handicap spot, And the response is a beat down?
I’m glad this guy is gone, and I hope Mama produces no more childrens.
All stand-your-ground requires is fear for your safety. A man in a heated argument with a woman? A case could be made that her safety was at risk.
The dickhead was shot in the CHEST, he retreated after he was shot in the CHEST.
Pity the world, this fool is gone.
“the guy is assaulted and pushed to the ground”
Yeh then he defended himself against a larger foe.
I didn’t actually hear any audio of the incident, hence why I put “ heated” in parenthesis, but the woman was inside a car and the man was standing a few feet away from it during the discussion. The deceased clearly initiated the physical confrontation, no?
I got into some **** in my 20s with 5 guys out in the country, I got 4 of them, the other one got my wallet.
I had to report my stolen military ID and hang my head as I did so.
I caught up with the 5th guy and made it all right, I made him hang his head in front of his girlfriend.
In my late 40s 4 guys thought they would wild on me on a country road out in Tx, I got away but decided I’m to old to dance, and got a CHL.
No he wasn't. He was close enough to deliver a very hard kick in one or two steps.
"Retreat" is when he gets in the car and drives away.
Police consider anyone closer than 21 feet a threat. The assailant was 8-10 feet away. Is the life of a citizen worth less than the life of a cop?
The evidence you have shows a violent person walk outside a store and physically assault an old man in a very aggressive and strong manner for no reason whatsoever, and you are defending that violent person.
That’s the difference between you and me.
Too bad Markeis wasn't familiar with this.
I predict the shooter walks since old Markeis had just committed a felony assault on the shooter. His family won't be suing the shooter either under Florida law.
I wonder what most cops would have done in a similar circumstance.
Except that the old man wasn’t aggressive and didn’t assault anyone.
Failsauce logic from DoodleDawg, as usual.
However far he pushed him.
agree Chris. It is stunning that people that profess to be conservative on FR can actually believe this thug was not a threat after he did what he did.
I don’t know the age of the guy who got knocked down, but I would have shot the attacker too.
Whats interesting here is that while the police ruled justifiable SYG, the case still has to be presented to the states AG for a final decision.
I think the police are agreeing with all of the posters here. Its something that could be ruled either way, so they are declaring SYG applies and will await a verdict from the AG that either endorses their decision or overrule it and seek an indictment. (If I understand things correctly.)
“One pulls a guns and points it at a person because why?”
You answered the wrong question.
This is the question I asked.
A person pulls a gun and points it at a person in order to shoot that person.
There is no other reason to do so.
You’re calling him a coward without even knowing his physical limitations?
I think that makes you something too, but I won’t call you those names.
Her safety was at risk exactly how?
From his words spoken to her at a distance?
That’s pretty frightening, I admit. It’s a good thing her boyfriend smashed his dangerous ass into the pavement, right, D00dleFrog?
She’s a woman, she can just invent evidence to justify her ridiculous position.
The headline is ridiculous.
Sorry.
She was so threatened that whe she saw her man exit the store, she jumped out of the car, why? Administer a little beat down of her own.
