It’s the bolts that are the rust problem. I saw them off. Then replace with stainless steel.
Good solution. It works well on motorcycles, bicycles, and other long-term machinery too. Of course living somewhere that doesn't get too humid or too salty helps too.
On the other hand dry hot air is hell on rubber, cloth, and plastic. Not a lot of perfect places I guess. There's a triangle in San Diego just up the hill and to the East of I5, West of I15, N or HWY94, and S of I8 that's about the size of a 40K town that has the least temperature variance in the entire continental United States. I lived there for nearly 20 years. Much longer than I should have due to the near perfect weather. The CA politics and silliness finally drove me away when I saw an opportunity.
But I digress... BTW; Hawaii has the least temperature variance between its hottest hot and its coldest cold but the air is full of salt so it would actually be worse for barn find vehicles.
