If I were world ruler for a day, I would make it mandatory for any politician or celebrity who espouses sanctuary cities or open migration to house illegal aliens in their homes and let them set up barrios on their properties. It is easy for them to fake compassion for illegal aliens when they do not personally have to experience the crime or environmental degradation that comes with enabling large numbers of illegals to colonize areas.
