Trump calls off Cold War II
Worldnetdaily ^ | July 16th, 2018 | Patrick J. Buchanan

Posted on 07/16/2018 8:44:21 PM PDT by Mariner

Beginning his joint press conference with Vladimir Putin, President Trump declared that U.S. relations with Russia have “never been worse.”

He then added pointedly, that just changed “about four hours ago.”

It certainly did. With his remarks in Helsinki and at the NATO summit in Brussels, Trump has signaled a historic shift in U.S. foreign policy that may determine the future of this nation and the fate of his presidency.

He has rejected the fundamental premises of American foreign policy since the end of the Cold War and blamed our wretched relations with Russia not on Vladimir Putin, but squarely on the U.S. establishment.

In a tweet prior to the meeting, Trump indicted the elites of both parties: “Our relationship with Russia has NEVER been worse thanks to many years of U.S. foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!”

Trump thereby repudiated the records and agendas of the neocons and their liberal interventionist allies, as well as the archipelago of War Party think tanks beavering away inside the Beltway.

Looking back over the week, from Brussels to Britain to Helsinki, Trump’s message has been clear, consistent and startling.

NATO is obsolete. European allies have freeloaded off U.S. defense while rolling up huge trade surpluses at our expense. Those days are over. Europeans are going to stop stealing our markets and start paying for their own defense.

And there will be no Cold War II.

I was in HS when the consensus was that our next big war would be with China, USSR on our side. Then came the Islamists. They hate everybody. At least they don’t discriminate.

“the neocons and their liberal interventionist allies”

What’s the difference? At least foreign policy-wise they seem exactly the same. It’s been clear that the neo-cons took over the Dem party in 2016, and most of their followers are so easily lead around by the nose they didn’t even notice that they are now what they were protesting against just a few years ago.

They were so sad they didn’t get another war out of Hillary in Syria after she already destroyed Libya. Now they are so eager to restart the Cold War based primarily on paranoia and treating tiny things like they are gigantic. (It’s funny how the left wept in sympathy and defended the criminals vigorously when we executed Soviet Communist spies who stole our nuclear secrets, but they are in total freak out mode that some Russians exposed actual, real Democrat emails proving the Dems did not have legitimate primary elections, i.e. they only dislike Russians when they expose factual left-wing corruption, not when they spy on or attack the US.) They can’t stand that a peace-focused leader like Trump is standing in their way of their next war.

Remember all the bad things they said about him 92’? He was Trump b4 Trump. Tony Brown(PBS)said he was a racist. He saw something in the Bushies and the big state us conservatives didn’t recognize. Hood for him. Too bad he’s in his 80’s.

There’s more. Washington warned against entangling alliances and Eisenhower warned against the military industrial complex. Trump is following through with what those 2 DIDN’T do while IN office.

The reaction by both parties serves as a reminder that ONLY Trump should being carrying the matrix of leadership for the next half a decade. He will solve the problems the rest don’t even know we have

Every country right now especially in Europe and former Soviet space...but Asia and elsewhere too is undergoing its own, inner spiritual battle, and search for identity.

Americans need to focus on our own soul. If we choose God, we will be victorious without firing a shot and inspire other countries to choose the same by the power of example.

Or we drift into further into socialist, secularist, tyranny.

Never forget how the Left and their icons mocked Romney in the 2012 election for warning that Russia was our main geo-political foe. Obama, Hillary, Biden, Kerry, and Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow all made snide comments about it.

“Russia, this is, without question, our number one geopolitical foe,” Romney said. In response, Obama mocked Romney’s statement, saying, “The 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because…the Cold War’s been over for 20 years.”

Then Hillary Clinton got in on the action. She told CNN at the time, “It’s somewhat dated to be looking backwards,” playing off President Obama’s remarks that Romney was stuck in a “Cold War mind warp.” (She then, during the same interview, goes on to compare the Russians to Nazis... but of course, nobody bothered to point out her glaring self-contradiction.)

VP Joel Biden said that Romney belonged to “a small group of Cold War holdovers.”

Secretary of State John Kerry said, “Mitt Romney talks like he’s only seen Russia by watching ‘Rocky IV,’” he said.

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews and Rachael Maddow both mocked Romney, claiming he was merely trying to copy Ronald Reagan.
“He read about Reagan’s private, outside-the-CIA cabal of team-B zealots who were telling him that Russia had all the stuff they didn’t have so he could justify a giant defense budget,” Maddow said.
“I don’t know what decade this guy’s living in,” Matthews said. “Is he trying to play Ronald Reagan here, or what?”

Funny how their views change so radically after just one little election.

how do they know that roll wasn’t rock hard when it came out of the oven to begin with?

Agreed; as long as it does not involve Israel. Then he goes of the rails.

The kicker: "It’s Cold War 2.0. Get with times Pat."

Won't you give to the Sarcastically Impaired (SI)? You could help someone you know, maybe even yourself.

The elites on both sides of the aisle are so disappointed since there’s so much money to be made in war time, hot or cold, while playing on the fears of common folk as they march off to war. This is one if the chief reasons I support Trump. He does not send boys off to war without ample justification.

Also never forget that when Hillary approved the sale of 20% of our uranium production to Russia, that Russia and its satellites already produce 50% of the world's supply, and we produce about 2%... well, now 1.6%, with Hillary's deal. What was so important for Russia to have that extra slice, to get to 51%? Or was it more about making sure that our supply and access was more limited? Gee, I wonder...

2016 global production:
Kazakh 39%, Russia 5% Uzbek 4% Ukraine 2%...
our best sources are Canada 22%, Australia 9%, and USA 2%...
Niger 7%, Namibia 5%, and China 3% make up most of the rest...
the other 200 nations share the remaining 2%.

Everyone including you already know who the bad (American) actors are in the U1 case...What more could Putin do?...Besides even if he did give him up, after all the hatred and bad mouthing Putin and the Russians get who would believe him?...The libs would say he's lying and that would be that.

I remember that campaign well. When Buchanan pulled off the upset in New Hampshire, the national media mobilized to take him down. It was like he didn’t have a friend in the world.

Yet Obama tells the Russians he will be more “flexible” after the 2012 Presidential Election and no big deal.
