Beginning his joint press conference with Vladimir Putin, President Trump declared that U.S. relations with Russia have never been worse.
He then added pointedly, that just changed about four hours ago.
It certainly did. With his remarks in Helsinki and at the NATO summit in Brussels, Trump has signaled a historic shift in U.S. foreign policy that may determine the future of this nation and the fate of his presidency.
He has rejected the fundamental premises of American foreign policy since the end of the Cold War and blamed our wretched relations with Russia not on Vladimir Putin, but squarely on the U.S. establishment.
In a tweet prior to the meeting, Trump indicted the elites of both parties: Our relationship with Russia has NEVER been worse thanks to many years of U.S. foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!
Trump thereby repudiated the records and agendas of the neocons and their liberal interventionist allies, as well as the archipelago of War Party think tanks beavering away inside the Beltway.
Looking back over the week, from Brussels to Britain to Helsinki, Trumps message has been clear, consistent and startling.
NATO is obsolete. European allies have freeloaded off U.S. defense while rolling up huge trade surpluses at our expense. Those days are over. Europeans are going to stop stealing our markets and start paying for their own defense.
And there will be no Cold War II.

Will Putin give up Mueller in the U 1 case?
Pat's got a way with words.
If he has anything useful on Trump’s enemies he’ll likely turn it over as long as it doesn’t hurt Russia.
He’s a grand writer.
Look America has been sold out to China for an entire generation and a half.
BOTH PARTIES.
Everyone. It is about time, that America stopped selling out to China.
If it means getting closer to Russia, I’m willing to try that out for a while.
We know our countries are different. But we also know there are ways we are similar.
I am all for exploring this.
For real.
The neo-conservatives/deep state need a foreign enemy to justify their global agenda.
and he nails this one
The Left has never recovered from the collapse of the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union was the engine of globalism and socialism. It is their worst nightmare that a capitalist, nationalist Russia embraces the best of its cultural heritage and finds that it has more in common with a capitalist, prosperous United States that has secure borders and also celebrates its cultural heritage than it has real differences. Trump and Putin, each in their own way, the champions of nationalism are the perfect storm that is wrecking the Left’s dream. The Left would do anything to be rid of them both.
Brilliant article.
Progs are deeply, saddened.
“European allies have freeloaded off U.S. defense while rolling up huge trade surpluses at our expense.”
And let’s not forget that by stiffing their agreed upon contributions to their own defense, thereby forcing the US to pony up, they have been able to use the “freed up cash” to further their Socialist Utopias. It’s long past time that the US Taxpayer be taken out of the financial traces imposed on him by this bull$hit NATO “organization.”
Frankly, I’m so disgusted with Europe as a whole, I’d almost be willing to stand back and let Putin have at all of them, the pack of Arrogant Socialist Pussies.
Who knows how, and has the energy to start a Pat Buchanan ping list?
I have to wonder how much of the left’s animus towards Russia is due to the Kennedys being caught red-handed colluding with Russia while they were still communist.
They’re petty like that.
Excellent article well worth the entire read. Buchanan’s been on a role lately.
Both countries have experienced the same globalist scum moving all job producing industry out of the country and millions left without jobs and without the security of retirement benefits they had earned over a lifetime of labor.
More Americans are waking up every day and realizing that wasn't the result of some invisible hand moving in the market but rather that it was the deliberate, methodical, reduction of the American middle class that has been a goal of the globalists all the way back to the 1930s.
Blessed are the peacemakers ....
“Buchanans been on a role lately.”
His message has not changed in 50 years.
It’s the historical context that has changed.
roll too
