Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini has spoken out Thursday against the current rate of migrant deportations in Italy, claiming that it would take 50 years to expel a backlog of 500,00 illegal immigrants unless more than 10,000 migrants are deported per year, reports ANSA.
In an impromptu meeting with other EU officials, he stressed the time sensitivity of the migrant issue. Although Salvini made clear that he prefers a peaceful resettlement process for asylum seekers, he leans toward more aggressive deportation procedures after hundreds of additional migrants arriving by boat in the past months have exacerbated problem by overwhelming border control authorities and increasing the backlog.
“If arrivals in Europe are reduced there will be no problem at the internal borders of the EU and we can continue to work peacefully among peoples as we intend to do,” said Salvini, Express reports.
Salvini’s comments on the migrant issue were preceded by his controversial decision to prevent NGO boats carrying rescued migrants from docking in Italian ports. A tough critic of the clandestine immigration taking place in Europe’s southern border, Salvini has justifies his policy by asserting a Italy-First stance, saying that “Italy cannot become Europe’s refugee camp.” While this no-landing policy was the norm of his predecessors, Salvini is more flagrant in his enforcement of the matter and has recruited allies across the European Union to more effectively combat this issue.
“I have to do everything I can to protect the people who live in this country …. Nobody will ever change my view that the fight against human trafficking and clandestine immigration is one of this country’s primary objectives,” Salvini said on RTL radio on Friday.

It’s worse than that, they don’t think they should.
They have been brainwashed that Western culture is bad.
In some European countries only 16% of the population would fight for their county.
The US rate was 44% in that survey.
That may be true. I haven’t been close enough to them to get a gut sense about it.
Well, the way things show up on the internet these days, what can you take away from that?
Perhaps something, and perhaps not...
In 50 years Italy will not be Italian but Muslim.
I think they need to move the timetable up a little.
I am actually a believer in the BLACK SWAN - What is going on now will not continue forever, something will “unexpectedly” happen (the Black Swan) and the situation will change.
I believe the end game will end in violence. There is no way to predict the winner, but there will be violence on a scale we have not seen since WWII.
Some of this is also fallout of Hillary and Obama’s foreign policy.

It most definitely is and Rubio, McCain and Graham share the blame.
Taking down Libya was a colossal mistake.
Kaddafy was keeping the hordes at bay.
I bet with undivided effort it could be accomplished in a month or so.
I was getting on a bus in Florence last summer. Two of these guys try to jump in line in front of all of us. The first one got on and it shocked me how aggressive they were. As the second one tried to get on I said something and the guy started yelling some language at me. But he did get to the back of the line. Ugly, nasty, and bizarrely entitled.
There are some “old school” people who could get them out in 5 weeks!
If they allow the 500k to stay there won't be an Italy to through them out of....at least not one we understand.
It’s total madness.
That's what I think too. The anger is building among native European men.

Mafia joined the other side, sadly. They always go where the money is.
Some are predators, some are parasites. Good people too? Perhaps, but if they are helpful for Italy then they should come legally, not as criminals. Italy should remove them all, or give them an incentive to self-deport. No exceptions.
Fine employers of these criminals so much that businesses won’t hire illegals any more. Freeze all welfare, social services, and schooling for illegals. Immediately deport illegals charged with crimes who are acquitted, and deport those convicted after they serve their sentences. You don’t have to deport half a million criminals one at a time, just remove their incentive to stay.
The north is as infected as the South,yet!
Conte and Mattarella are on the other side. They are the ones who favor the migration-—and the slower removal rate. New elections may be held soon. The people are behind Salvini and Five Star leader Di Maio. Salvini was making the case for a faster solution, not making excuses for slowness.
Hint: The media don’t like either Salvini or Di Maio. Same situation as here. So surprise surprise they have distorted the message by omission.
What if they just eliminated them? bet it would be faster than 50 years.
Few, if any, think they are part of any "surplus."
Each has his own purposes, however far his "liberty" will take him in his "pursuit of happiness."
I suppose "we" (the human race) "need" a certain number if we're going to colonize Mars, or perhaps the vast ocean floors which are 70% of the surface of the planet.
Just a thought.
