“Republican leadership lacks the balls to do it”

Well, whether or not they have the balls, they don’t have 67 US Senators who would vote to remove him from office. There are probably closer to 67 Senators who would give him a medal than would vote to kick him out.

And, by the way, the fact that Congress (both parties) can’t even defend its own privilege to subpoena documents is just another manifestation of the American Crisis, which is the inability of the People to exercise its sovereignty through elected representatives.

The leadership of BOTH parties is much happier to have the People ruled by orders issued by the Executive and Judicial branches than by laws passed by Congress.

I never quite thought of it that way, you make a very interesting point.

Excellent comment. This, in my opinion, is an extremely important and fundamental point. The representatives of the American people (duly elected through a process which is THE KEYSTONE of our democracy) have been thwarted in their efforts to perform lawful and entirely legitimate oversight responsibilities by arrogant, unelected bureaucrats.

Wosre, these bureaucrats effectively see themselves as an independent fourth branch of government that is unaccountable to the congress, dismissive of the president, and even above the law (e.g., lying to FISA courts).

Yes, the rise of this rogue “agency” constitutes a gravely serious problem for the country right now. We need for the president to address it.
