[BEIJING] A hotel in the Chinese city of Shenzhen plans to charge its US guests an extra 25 per cent amid a trade war between Beijing and Washington, according to the Global Times, a tabloid published by the ruling Communist Party's People's Daily.
The Modern Classic Hotel Group had put up a notice at its hotel informing guests of the extra charge on American guests, the paper said in a report dated Thursday.
"We put up the notice last Friday. Our boss was really angry about the endless tariffs the US planned to impose on China, so we decided to stand with the country and show our support," a spokesperson of the hotel surnamed Yang told the paper.
People answering the phone on Friday at numbers on the hotel's website said they were unaware of the policy.

The Chinese Communists are the number one force in corrupting Government officials around the world - by far.
It has been central to their strategy and practices for decades. They bought the Clintons back in the 1990’s (if not earlier). There is virtually no country on Earth that does not Government officials taking Chinese money.
In their model, the top politicians become billionaires, and their equivalent of Congressman (Reps in the Great Hall of the People’s Deputies) average around $100 million net worth - all from corruption and abuse of office.
I say use an American hotel if you have to go to communist China, but even better, go somewhere else until the trade war is settled, or the oppressive communist regime has been replaced, and the Chinese people freed.

I suspect that the stats concerning how well the Chinese economy is going are complete fabrications and that their economy is poised in a knife edge with total collapse on both sides of the blade. If that’s true, how much can Xi concede and not lose his position from something as inexorable as the economic equivalent of gravity? His only real choice is to take the blame himself, even though the policies of the communist party and general corruption in the government(’s) is what set them up, or to blame Trump?
On Trump’s side, he has to decide whether he can declare victory with whatever he can get out of Xi so Xi can save face and Trump’s supporters can be satisfied. But the situation is so unfair, so unequal, that Trump needs to get a lot from Xi to even approach parity in trade. The imbalance is something like five to one in China’s favor. Even given that, it isn’t enough to stave off collapse for much longer. Xi would also need to devalue his currency and cut back on their military spending, among other things that are equally unlikely.

I will not argue against your analysis.
I have come to believe that there is a very strong, very substantial force, under the Asian surface. That force is substantially existant in China. That force is the youth, the young adults, that will not go along. They, must be heard.They must be a prime consideration.
I would not argue they want a western style democracy, but they will be increasingly intolerant towards a communits party and even semi totalitarian control of their lives.
I'd say the Saudis are neck-and-neck with them - and probably more influential in the USA, since China prefers to buy Third World politicians because they have a better likelihood of staying bought. :)
So, don’t vacation in China and pull out all US companies.
I usually stay at foreign-owned hotels, though many of my colleagues prefer the lower prices of the Chinese hotels. I've never had a bad experience at a Chinese hotel but foreign hotels over there tend to be much nicer than their domestic equivalents (the Marriotts in Guangzhou or Shenzhen are a thousand times better than the one in, say, Atlanta) and there is a little less worry about the building suddenly collapsing. :)
Unfortunately, it’s not just an international reaction from China. Ever been to Hawaii and compared the hotel rates between “out of staters” and Hawaii residents?
