Rep. Beto ORourke (D-Texas) has reportedly raised more than $10.4 million over the past three months, placing him second among the top fundraisers this election season.
ORourke, who is challenging incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), told his followers in a video posted to Twitter that his campaign raised the enormous sum with 215,714 individual contributions.
The average donation was $33 over the past three months, he said.
In the last three months, all of us together, without PACs [political action committees] or corporations, or special interests, have raised more than $10.4 million, ORourke said. That comes from 215,714 individual contributors, most of them from Texas, giving 15, 25, 50 bucks at a time.
ORourkes campaign already boasted massive fundraising, but the latest haul brings his cash-on-hand to $14 million, the Texas Tribune reported.
Cruz will reportedly announce raising $4 million over the same period of time, bringing him to $10 million in cash-on-hand, according to the Washington Examiner.
According to its latest report from March 31, the Center for Responsive Politics reported that 41 percent of ORourkes contributions were small individual contributions of less than $200. Around 58 percent were from large individual contributions.
ORourke has said repeatedly that his campaign is not accepting PAC money. But, according to the Center, O'Rourke has taken in $35,265 for this election cycle.
"You have made something absolutely extraordinary happen in Texas," O'Rourke said, addressing his supporters. "Extraordinary because we cant find many other Senate races that have raised this kind of money in a three-month period. We cant find one in Texas maybe ever that has done this and to do it in this way, through small-dollar contributions that's what democracy looks like."
Cruz has a slight lead over ORourke, with the latest polling showing the incumbent holding a 5-point lead over his Democratic challenger.
But I heard Beato has been making frequent trips to Hollywood.
Is there anyone here besides the 2016 Cruz haters who think this guy will take Ted Cruz’s senate seat? Bueller? Bueller?
As the blind guy said as he passed a bevy of streetwalkers: Something smells fishy.
Robert ORourke is lying. When he says all his donations were under the reporting limit that just means he doesnt want to report who is contributing. Just like Obama. And since Robert is a Democrat, no one will push him to be honest.
He’s trying to compare himself to the Bernie Sanders campaign that supposedly raised large amounts in dribs and drabs.
I wasn’t particularly happy with Cruz in 2016. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that I hated him, that is a pretty strong emotion that should be saved only for a select few, but yep, didn’t care for him all that much.
I think that Cruz will retain his seat, and I also hope that he will.
This nation needs nothing further from the Democrat party or anyone in it.
LOL...the Cruz haters won't like it if their dreams come true and Beto makes history. Cruz has been supportive of Trump's agenda over the past 18 months.
No one from El Paso has ever won a statewide election, and Beto's not going to be the first. When Ted starts actively campaigning, his lead will go from 10% to close to 15%.
And, if his story is honest, why did he just go to Hollywood to fundraise?
Cruz basically draining the lib pocketses.
The lefties are swooning over this skinny twit.
Again, wish Lyn' Ted would have dropped so a real Republican, a real Trump Republican, not a lying Never Trumper could run for that seat. Heck, quit now and let the governor appoint someone.
Where do you get this? “Cruz has been supportive of Trump’s agenda over the past 18 months” He has not. He’s voted against Trump several times, he’s raised untimely opposition. The only thing that might get Lyn’ Ted to embrace Trump, even if temporarily, is like Heller, if he thinks he’s going to otherwise lose.

Beto has a real chance....he is running hard, raised a bunch of money, and it would be a mistake for Cruz and supporters to underestimate him.
Cruz is in danger imo......he damaged himself immensely in the presidential election, by being ungracious, and an ass. I was disappointed in his debate performance, and his actions afterwards...he has a long way to go to make up lost ground, imo.
Good, less money for other Democrat candidates
I don’t like Cruz, but I am going to vote for him!
With Abbot on the ticket, Cruz is a 10 pt winner.
Texans aren’t going to allow a Democrat to take the seat.
Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton Campaigns: Filings Show Huge Fundraising Gap
“Hillary Clinton is crushing Donald Trump on the fundraising front, electoral filings show, casting doubt on the Republican's claims that money is ‘pouring in’ for his campaign.”
…“Clinton didn't just out-raise Trump 9-1: She also entered June with much more cash in her coffers.”
