PRESIDENT TRUMP: Well, I have to say, I think its very sad when Germany makes a massive oil and gas deal with Russia, where youre supposed to be guarding against Russia, and Germany goes out and pays billions and billions of dollars a year to Russia. So were protecting Germany. Were protecting France. Were protecting all of these countries. And then numerous of the countries go out and make a pipeline deal with Russia, where theyre paying billions of dollars into the coffers of Russia.
So were protect you against Russia, but theyre paying billions of dollars to Russia, and I think thats very inappropriate. And the former Chancellor of Germany is the head of the pipeline company thats supplying the gas. Ultimately, Germany will have almost 70 percent of their country controlled by Russia with natural gas.
So you tell me, is that appropriate? I mean, Ive been complaining about this from the time I got in. It should have never been allowed to have happened. But Germany is totally controlled by Russia, because they will be getting from 60 to 70 percent of their energy from Russia and a new pipeline. And you tell me if thats appropriate, because I think its not, and I think its a very bad thing for NATO and I dont think it should have happened. And I think we have to talk to Germany about it.
“Give em Hell Donald” at his very best!
To be honest, right now without the 2nd pipeline...it’s fifty percent. I agree, it might go to 70-percent once the pipe is done. I think the yearly money going to Russia from Germany....amounts to the 10-billion Euro range. After the 2nd pipeline? Totally unknown.
This is amazing. No President has ever called them on their BS like this. Europe is accustomed to the US being eager to please them. It’s the last stages of psychological colonialism finally being stripped away, and the Europeans are shocked, and the liberals are horrified, but this... this has been 240+ years coming.
BBC is airing a press conference with the NATO top guy (Norwegian) right now.
——many countries owe us a tremendous amount of money for many years back——
Ahhh..... there you have it. Not only are they cheap, but they are declared to be shameful debtors.
Perhaps the IMF needs to be sicced on them
[ PRESIDENT TRUMP: Just look at the chart. Take a look at the chart. Its public. And many countries are not paying what they should. And, frankly, many countries owe us a tremendous amount of money for many years back, where theyre delinquent, as far as Im concerned, because the United States has had to pay for them. ]
Last night I re-watched some of this best hits of the campaign in 2016....
Not tired of winning.
As the saying goes..... follow the money.
What did the NATO Secretary General say so quietly or mumble that not even the White House web site knows what it was?
This morning in Europe!
As the NATO summit began in Brussels, President Trump delivered a clear message to Americas allies: The transatlantic Alliance is too important not to invest in. The United States is paying far too much, and other countries are not paying enough, the President said this morning.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg echoed that goal. We will continue to focus on defense spending, because as the President just said, NATO Allies have to invest more in defense, and thats not exactly what theyre doing, he said. President Trump thanked the Secretary General for working hard to make progress. He understands the problem.
While former President Obama also urged our NATO allies to share the defense burden, President Trump is the one getting results. Since President Trump took office, each member state has increased its defense spending: In 2017 alone, we saw an increase of more than 4.8 percent in defense spending among our NATO Allies. But thats not nearly enough, President Trump makes clear.
