Very nice sentiment which honors McCain as a steady hand that has guided the ship while the crew grew and matured. The reality is different. He referred to people like me as "wacko birds" and "tea party hobbits" who were foolish believers in stupid fantasies like limited government and balanced budgets.
He attempted to crash the ship into the rocks repeatedly just to knock us off of it out of meanness and spite. He has earned no classy and poetic sendoff in my view.
