We have a “transgender” in my wife’s family, a first cousin. He has been for his entire life one mentally messed up hombre. For years, we kept hearing about this and that diagnosis. He once changed his name thinking that would cure his ills. Then, about 15 years ago he got married to some female loony bird. Then the two of them had a child who’s now 10.
About 3 years ago he finally “realized” that all along he was a woman trapped inside a man’s body. Renamed himself a second time. Started wearing dresses and earrings. Note that he was not a very attractive dude but since he’s 45, overweight, and already balding he is an especially unattractive “woman.”
His mother, a very left wing progressive who is a reliable liberal on all issues, hates his claim to be a woman. She has all sorts of other diagnoses.
And his wife? She is still married to him. Two women married to each other now. He has not has surgery ... readers can fill in the blanks about their marital intimacy.
I do have sympathy for the fellow. Born with severe emotional problems and always searching for the answer that will make him feel normal. Becoming transgender was just another one of those possible answers and, in this case, puts him in a protected status as a victim, too.
As for his child, that will be one really messed up kid, by the way.
Yes...... I know of two similar individualsl.
One seems to be well adjusted however. I served with Rick on the Board of Directors of our local Jaycees. He was presumedly happily married with two kids. He ran a successful insurance office for a national company. He was a good ol boy beer drinking buddy.
To what seems everybody, he left his wife and became a women. The company had no problem with his name change to Rikki. He is a very good businessman and has prospered. He became associated with a lesbian who had several children. He created for her a business and also one for her mother. Her kids came of age and they are all in business.
It is a very straange state of family affairs but aside from the jilted wife and husband apparently is a very prosperous arrengement.
I am his/her custonet that sometimes still calls he Rick.
