Letter: Trump deserves our thanks for prospect of Korean peace
The Buffalo News ^ | July 10, 2018 | Staff

It has taken almost 70 years to heal the breach in the Koreas and the threat it represents. But Donald Trump has succeeded where all the others presidents have failed.

Strong sanctions laid the groundwork, but a prospect for peace is almost entirely due to the personal vision of President Trump. Trump’s triumph comes from skilled negotiation. In effect Trump gave North Korean leader Kim Jong Un a choice of isolation and poverty or denuclearization and prosperity. Trump has shown the North Korean leader the economic advantage of ending his isolation. Trump has introduced him to the global world of trade and offered security.

The key variable Trump controls is not military maneuvers with South Korea, it is relief from economic sanctions. Ten presidents could not do anything in the past 70 years; in fact many were even too timid to try.

Compare this to Obama’s Iran deal, where we had to pay billions in cash to Iran to do a deal. Trump paid nothing. In fact he got three hostages released, and is working to bring back the remains of our brave military that were killed in the Korean War.

Just think how much Trump could do for our country if there were no idiotic people criticizing his every move.

Not yet. Peace is not yet assured. The accolade is premature regardless of Trump’s efforts and intentions.

Let’s see a real prospect for peace first. So far the desire for peace has seemed all one-sided.

It needs to look that way so the Norks do not seem to be bowing down to the US. They must have a few apparent small victories.

The stick and carrot in that order appear to be working (as opposed to the carrot and... uh nothing) that preceded President Trump).

It is far from decided but President Trump has the high ground and the best chance ever to work this out.

Libtards don’t really get the art of the deal. They just demand and have tantrums when their demands are not met — or they capitulate completely.

This was a letter, and most definitely not from the “staff” of the leftist Warren Buffett Fake Buffalo News.

Trump has done all he could do but we all know that Pompao went to Pyongyang to get a list of nuke and missile sites and locations, He got zip. That ends the charade by the NORKS. We must now move to preemptive strike mode or risk the loss of millions of American Citizens. I commend Trump’s efforts and applaud that he isn’t paying bribes like Clinton did with that Richardson fraud as his bag man. These discussions are now futile but we damn sure tried. Bravo president Trump.

It looks that way because the only thing Kim wants are his nukes and an end to sanctions.

Going by what was in the video Trump took to Singapore and played for Kim and his staff, Trump offered him a choice between Wealth, Development, Safety, Peace and Tranquility OR Hellfire, Destruction, Blood, Death and Ashes. Because if Kim persists with nukes and missiles; the second choice is certain.
