Can Elizabeth Warren win back blue-collar Democrats from President Trump in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania?
Its a question many Democrats are pondering as Warren one of the leading contenders for her partys presidential nomination, if she chooses to run in 2020 goes back and forth with the president over immigration and other issues.
Warren (D-Mass.) has shown an ability to rally and excite progressives, shes a proven fundraiser and she has policy bona fides from her work in the Senate. Yet there are creeping doubts among some Democrats that shes the best candidate to take on Trump.
Some worry the former Harvard professor will have a tough time winning back the Rust Belt centrists and independents who abandoned Hillary Clinton and Democrats for Trump.
I just cant see a blue-collar, Rust Belt guy voting for her, said one Democratic strategist who has worked on presidential campaigns. I think the party needs to be realistic about that.
Some Democrats almost certainly remain shellshocked from the last election after Trumps surprise win. He became the first Republican to win the states of Pennsylvania and Michigan in a presidential election since 1988 and the first Republican to win Wisconsin since President Reagan in 1984.
If Democrats dont retake those states in 2020, their chances of winning the Electoral College will fall.
Teeth-gnashing over who is best-positioned to take on Trump, as a result, is already taking place ahead of the midterm elections.
Warrens gender and her political identity as a voice on the left are both likely to be issues for primary voters sizing up Democratic candidates in potential head-to-head matchups with Trump. Would she be stronger than former Vice President Joe Biden? What about Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.)? Does the party need the face of a new political generation, such as Sens. Kamala Harris (Calif.), Cory Booker (N.J.) or Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.)?
Warren has her advocates, who say the senators anti-corporate economic message will resonate with the types of voters who left the party for Trump.
Jesse Ferguson, who served as a spokesman for Clintons 2016 presidential campaign, said Warren has a powerful economic message that resonates everywhere.
Democratic pollster Celinda Lake said Warren is the perfect candidate to oppose Trump because she has the ability to go straight at him on his economic policies.
She also argued that Trumps repeated attacks on Warren suggest the White House sees her as a threat.
I think this man understands his brand very well and understands his populist appeal very, very well, and he realizes how threatening to him she is on his brand, Lake said.
Warrens office declined to comment for this story.
Go for it...
Reminds me of an old joke about an Indian chief that was introduced to a prostitute who was interested in tribal culture. Upon introduction, the chief said "when". The prostitute sheepishly said: "Aren't you supposed to say How?" The chief replied: "Me know how, me want to know when."
“When did hildabeast have charisma?”
Fhayek meant chlamydia (oral).
Some kind of pipe? Lets see, what kind?
Felonious Pantsuit/Fauxahauntas. Yes, that would be the winning ticket. (At least for all the electoral votes in Massachusetts)
Ok Ok, got the joke. And I thought RATS were dense. Joke’s on me. :)
Warren is every man’s (teacher, mother-in-law, ex-girlfriend) nightmare.

[ When did hildabeast have charisma? ]
My toilet full of last night’s Mexican buffet had more charisma the Cankles ever did.
Too angry.
I like Hillary/Warren.
Hillary is a proven winner. She won the popular vote, and she can do it again. She will deliver New York and California. She has the gravitas. It is still her turn.
Warren is a double minority, and she provides both brains and good looks. She has stronger lungs than Hillary and can yell more.
It would be historic to have two women at once.

Biden would be a good choice but there is no way an elderly white male will be nominated by the Dems and even if he is there is no way the Dem faithful will show up to vote for him on Election Day.
“Hillary is way in the back of the room, waving her hands to and fro, like a Dutch Windmill. ‘Hi! Guys, what about me?’”
And siccing her pit bulls on Liz. Go, Liz! Trump won’t even need to take her down when Hillary gets through with her.
...Teeth-gnashing over who is best-positioned to take on Trump...
There has only been wailng and gnashing of teeth of biblical proportions, and Russia, Russia Russia among democrats and other lunatic liberals since the President defeated Hellary in November.
LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
BRING IT ON.
i’d rather have the witch try again.
When 2020 rolls around the Dems may realize there is NO way any democrat can beat Trump and sacrifice someone who’s “turn” it is.
Please put up another cackling hen. Because it worked so well last time.
With TRUMP's performance, those 2X Obama Voters will never switch over to Democrats again!!!
Who could democrats nominate that, isn’t laughable?
They have nobody.
As Jon Oliver has said: “Do it!”
