I know Judge A.N. hated a number of Bush government “personal privacy” incursions issues and certainly understand them.
I’ll definitely more carefully listen closely to Napolitano.
That being said, I strongly objected the worst incursion of Pres. Bush’s acts and statement after 9/11, was the numerous claims that Islam is a “Religion of Peace!”
I so totally disagree with those ideas as after originally being in disagreement with it, I now strongly am convinced Islam is a murderous satanic cult!
Muslims practicing Islam are totally opposed to our religious freedom that is acknowledged and confirmed in our Constitution and I would take this further would prevent its adherents from coming into the U.S. even to visit as they have proven themselves a danger to American citizens!

Not me. Napolitano has been drifting left the last year. It's not the first time the Li'l Judge has been critical of President Trump or his policies.

I guess this is a glass half full or half empty issue. Kavanaugh will probably be better than Kennedy but not a Scalia-clone. If you compare Kavanaugh to Kennedy, it will be seen as a win but if you compare Kavanaugh to the Scalia-clone nominee (who couldn't get approved and might not exist anyway) then you will see this as a lost opportunity. Personally, I look at it like you do. We shouldn't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
Trump would give us a better justice than anyone currently on the court other than Thomas and maybe Alito and Gorsuch. I wish Justice Thomas the best of health and a continuing desire for a long, long career. The court will inevitably move to the left, to some degree, when he is replaced. There are not many judges to the right of Clarence Thomas and even fewer who could get approved by the Senate given a sure solid Democrat opposition and a few squishy Republicans.
McCain always pretends to be conservative during election years and the people of Arizona always fall for it. This isn't an election year for him but ... he's dying and he wants them to appoint his wife to replace him. So it's a quasi election of sorts. So of course he's pretending to be conservative so people will not fight it if his wife does get the nod.
Judge Nap moved decidedly leftward after getting benched a while back.
Interestingly I saw Nina Totenburg on Morning Joe this AM overall being positive on Trump’s pick.

Hello, D1, it's been a while since we exchanged posts. I don't post much anymore due to some health issues, but I always enjoy reading your comments and analyses.
The change in Napolitano dates back to January, 2017. Most Freepers have forgotten the particular incident, but when the big news splash about the "dossier" smear and the alleged former British intelligence asset connection was at it's height in the media, Napolitano made an appearance on Fox in which he claimed the real source was the British GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters), their intelligence service's component of the co-operative spy network with the US and three other allies.
Napolitano didn't go into more detail, e.g.,, that GCHQ was part of the "Five Eyes" (aka Echelon) spy network operated by the US, Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, or that these countries use this system to circumvent their laws against spying on their own citizens by having their "allies" do it for them and then passing the info along "through channels".
Unfortunately for Judge Nap, even though he didn't give those other details, just the mention of GCHQ got him yanked off the air at Fox. He wasn't seen again for nearly three months, with absolutely no comment or explanation from Fox. When he finally returned, again with no explanation or comment from Fox or him, he had noticeably changed in several aspects of his presentation and affect.
I believe he was given a serious "talking to" and explanation of what topics were permitted or off-limits. Anyway, he has changed, and I don't believe he should be trusted.

I don’t have cable any longer, so I don’t catch all the stuff like that. I haven’t seen him for years, but all that I read is pretty negative.
He used to be a rational thinker. Those days are gone, and it did seem to me like a night and day event took place, even from my limited observations of him.
It’s too bad. I used to value his opinions.
Hope things are good for you other than the health issues, and hope they get as good as they can in short order.
