EPA just started hauling waste from treatment plant to new storage site.
A truck hauling sludge from the Environmental Protection Agencys water-treatment plant for the Gold King Mine went off the road Monday and crashed into Cement Creek.
...
The EPA just started on June 15 hauling sludge from the water treatment plant, about 10 miles north of Silverton in an area known as Gladstone, to a historic mine waste pile, called the Kittimac, along County Road 2.
The trip is 10 to 15 miles one way, but involves windy, mountainous dirt roads.
Three months after the EPA triggered the Gold King Mine spill in August 2015, the agency built a temporary water-treatment plant to treat mine waste discharges out of the mine.
The process, however, generates an estimated 4,600 cubic yards of sludge a year. The EPA announced earlier this year it was running out of room at Gladstone to store the sludge, forcing the need to haul it to Kittimac.

This is nothing to do with the environment and everything to do with crony capitalists getting contracts to “clean up.” They are gifts that keep giving, because the work will be done when their great grandchildren run the boards of these companies.
Let it harden, see how alert the pot heads are....
EPA intentionally poisoned the River to secure SuperFund Money.
Dave Taylor; a retired geologist, published a letter in the local newspaper, one week before the planned, intentional EPA mine spill.
Just like Comey leaking secrets to the press via “a friend” to encourage and secure the special prosecutor against Trump.
Thats just the way the Obama Administration did things.
Nothing to see here citizens. It is almost all lime and just a little arsenic and other heavy metals. Move along citizens.
These are projects to keep epa wonks employed in nice places. The uranium cleanup at Moab is a massive exercise of hauling from one place to another that has taken years already.
The EPA should have capped the Moab pile with clay, posted a sign = no digging.
Instead the EPA wastes tons of our dollars, hauling the stuff up the road to a different location.
EPA officials need to be prosecuted for this planned assault on the environment as a mechanism to stop any planned development in the area.
The mine disaster and its intentional motivation was exposed by a geologist TWO WEEKS PRIOR to the incident!
He saw the way they were pumping the water and concluded it could only be with malice of forethought.
Just in Durango. last week. The 416 fire was incredible seen from south of town as you approached.
The town folk are so sick of the leftist climate there it is palpable. First time I was there in 73 it was a nice town. Now it is real Californicated.
Oh, no! All that sludge will drain from Cement Creek and into Cement Pond!
