When you can’t make pancakes or hamburgers very well, confuse people with your name for free publicity in hopes that people come in to your store.
Good grief, stick a fork in that company, their dead...
Great point.
This is why I only go to privately owned restaurants.
I knew this was bullsqueeze when I saw it.
You don’t change an internationally known, iconic name easily, and certainly not without YEARS of buildup.
One way to increase sales would be to reduce prices to a value received level.
We knew this. Man, the people in your board room are dumber than the boardrooms on Seinfeld. Ugh, Id avoid you just for that promo stunt. It was really, really lame.
Which got them a lot of free press
I make way better pancakes. So can anyone.

....or is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
To escape from reality.
Last time we ate at IHOP the guy at the desk taking our payment went to great lengths to assure us that even though they were playing around with this IHOb thing, they would still be the same kind of eating place they were before - and we hadn’t even mentioned the subject to him - clearly somebody got ahead of their clientele......
International House of Heart Attacks.
Pancakes were too hard, so they tried breakfast.
That was too hard as well.
just mixed half cup pancake batter with 4 eggs. nice suggestion.

About 16-18 yrs ago I went to an iHop. My last visit...
I was charged about $20 for coffee and a typical two egg type breakfast! Not only that, the waitress cooked the meal because the rest of the staff had walked off the job that morning. I left a big tip and never went back.
They’ve served burgers for years. I thought it was clear that this was just a publicity stunt, and that the name change wasn’t intended to be permanent.
We had (past tense) an Arthur Treacher’s/Nathan’s stand in the mall.
On “Day without an (illegal) immigrant” the stand was closed.
Never reopened.
Now there is a muzzy “halal” food stop in there.
No, I will not go there.
I don’t mind people doing it for themselves, if they find they like it.
I don’t even mind IHOP doing it, if they don’t call the product an omelet.
But if I’m on a low-carb paleo diet, and choose a ham&cheese omelet because eggs+ham+cheese is low-carb, I don’t want to find myself eating half a pancake.
