I was skeptical too until I listened to a couple of campaign rallies. He won me over with his moxie/views that were simply stated and to the point. This guy didn’t achieve all he has by being lucky. He is good and that is it’s own good luck. I hoped he would bring that “luck” to the Oval Office.” He has!

Always seem that the right man arrives in the time he is needed. After the disaster of Obama Trump is that right man. My only worry is who we can get to follow-up in 6 years? We need to look ahead to the years after Trump. I think his (our) success is assured until then.

I actually think Trump played the media by making statements which seemed extreme (too blunt) and garnered millions of dollars in free publicity because the media thought by highlighting what offended their delicate sensibilities would damage the eventual GOP nominee even if it wasn't Trump.

What they didn't count on was the millions of Americans who craved being told the blunt truth after 28 years of platitudes and political pablum served up by the likes of Obama, Clinton and two Bushes.

You're right in being concerned about the long term.

Republicans will overreach; politicians of all stripes always do. My opinion? It will be on a social issue - likely abortion or gay marriage. Some arrogant fool, convinced of their own infallibility, will try for a Hail Mary instead of patiently moving the ball forward. That will swing the pendulum back to the liberal side of the aisle.

Hopefully, it will take a few years. The amount of damage that the current administration is undoing is amazing. Just appointing sensible judges who enforce the law, rather than rewrite it to suit a whim, will solve a generation's worth of problems.

Pres Trump could appoint as many as 4 or 5 members to the Supreme Court - for instance, if Republicans hold the Senate in 2018, I'd look for Clarence Thomas to retire. Just that one fact alone made Trump an excellent pick.
