I suppose today alcohol might interfere with the euthanasia drug being used.

Why do we use those complex drug mixtures? It's absolute stupidity.

Put them in an old-fashioned gas chamber, and purge it with 100% dry nitrogen. It's guaranteed fatal, quickly, and nontoxic when the chamber is flooded with room air after the condemned is dead.

I am for the death penalty but I think that honoring a convict’s last meal requests is the honorable thing to do as it affirms that even though a man has to pay for his crimes he is still a human being. When you are about to take everything a man has, his life and his future, denying a small kindness is petty and does more harm to the executioners than the convict. Also, forbidding alchohol is something that only a pompous ass would do. There should be a maximum limit to be spent on a last meal, say $200, but if it is legal, then let them have it.

How ‘bout a sh*t sandwich and a glass of warm urine to wash it down?

Actually, if I remember my history correctly, that was items they grew in the prison farms. So everything could me made and on hand for the prisoner right from the prison.

When (unnamed murderer) got chocolate chip mint ice cream I thought that the last special meal request was some type of reward and should probably be discontinued. Their “reward” is coming at the appointed hour.

These murderous people really do not deserve the catering. Stick to the prison menu for that day and that particular meal.

Then there’s the medical concern, that if they eat certain foods or too much it might affect the overall performance of the lethal method being employed during their execution.

Mine would be homemade blackberry cobbler with British double cream.

This guy, as most murderers, doesn't qualify.

Same idea, with a bubble helmet. No confined space issues...

A last meal for the condemned has a long tradition behind it. In some ways it symbolizes that it's not an act of hatred or anger toward the person about to die. It's the state's way of saying "no hard feelings, we are only doing what must be done, and we do empathize with your situation." The condemned prisoner accepting the meal is symbolic of him or her accepting fate, and letting justice run its course. Also with no hard feelings toward the state and those involved in his or her execution.

It's a small thing, but an act of civility that separates America from too many other places in this world.

I think last meal requests serve as a very revealing window into the psyche of the condemned. Self-gratification to the last?

I read somewhere that laxatives are in the food so as to clear the system so they don’t crap the bed when they crap the bed.

Gas chamber, bubble helmet, pressure-demand mask ...

I’m not picky.

“But, but...I ordered three spicy chicken breasts, a roast beef sandwich with sauce, a fish sandwich, tater logs, onion rings, apple pie and a vanilla milkshake!”

“Oh, I’m so sorry. We should be able to get this straightened out in a day or so.”

>>>In Georgia, if an inmate makes no special request for his last meal, they are given the standard menu of chicken and rice, rutabagas, seasoned turnip greens, dry white beans, cornbread, bread pudding and fruit punch, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections<<<

That last “meal” would make me consider Suicide.

Then my nursing home was racist because that would fit on the menu without anyone’s notice. Of course the kitchen staff was majority black...

The last meal is not the problem, the problem is, he has been on death row since 1991.

Uh? With all that food he might choke on it. Can’t let that happen. My biggest question is why do the wipe the injection area with alcohol before they put the needle in? Fear if infection which may lead to blood poisoning?
