He’s not a bright boy. If they do that, the Dems will lose those seats, Trump still gets his nominee in the spring, and instead of needing to flip two or three GOP seats in 2020, they may need to flip half a dozen or more.

It's about more than the next election. It's about what future the United States of America is going to chart. IOW, it's purely and entirely about the next election.

Did they really think this through?

Brilliant strategery.
So, you block the nominee temporarily, then lose seats.
Making it easier to confirm the nominee after the election.
And maybe Trump gets to fill another seat in the next 2 years.

Since Durbin won’t get voted out, he should back up his words and voluntarily resign in protest as a show of sincerity.

Durbin is completely full of it. This is nothing more than gesturing and posturing about the next election.

I don’t understand what the PANIC is. The worst thing that would happen is having a few million more voters in 20 years or so.

Wait until Breyer, Ginsburg and Sotomayor are up for replacement. What will he say then?

Oh this is going to be so much fun to watch, political theater at its best. I will wager that the crazy media goes even more “bonkers” and find themselves even more manufacturing fake news.

Apparently they don't have enough dough to pay for Republican Senators to throw the fight.

Durbin revealed the Dem strategy:
stopping the nominee is more important than the upcoming midterm elections
It makes little difference which nominee POTUS selects. The Dems plan to attack full force. They want a powerplay with a potential win, going into the November election.
They have already hinted at attacks on most of the short-list names.
This has nothing to do with the qualifications of the names on the short list. It is a pure political war against whoever is named tomorrow.

Amazing strategist! Now I know why all the trade deals over the years have been so stellar! I wonder what the pick will look like when collins, Murkowski and McCain don’t have he balance of power.
