I’ve often said that the good people of CA - a ONCE great state - have given up SO much to leftists and illegals.
Hardly any other state offers such wonderful climate and so many God given natural beauty and resources. All of this has been completely overshadowed and made unenjoyable, due to the choices of the leftists.
How did this happen? How did the GOOD folks of CA allow this to happen? Look at SanFranFreako and LA and the lawlessness that caters to used needle and poop-filled homeless camps, over the rights and lives of decent, hard working folks who live throughout the state.
The Mexican invasion, bad politics, and ridiculous cost of living is what pushed me out in 2000. It has only gotten (much) worse since then. I think 1991 was the turning point or peak point for CA. Ever since then it has been on a downward trend. Such a shame too. Great weather and geography but that doesn’t offset the demographics and leftist trend.
I remember hearing California passed 1000 new laws every single year. Crazy!
We actually didn’t let this happen. In 1994, we saw this coming and passed Prop 187, probably the nation’s first real attempt to stop illegal immigration. Its implementation was largely blocked by the FEDERAL courts. Then the FEDERAL government refused to enforce immigration law, and California filled up with illegal aliens, who either became citizens via FEDERAL amnesties or whose kids were born citizens because of FEDERAL anchor baby law. In any event, native Californians may have gotten slightly more liberal over time due to the self-selection process, but for the most part, the political shift has come about because the FEDERAL government failed to stop illegal immigration.
