Ex-GOP majority leader: Republicans must protect Mueller [RINO Frist]
The Hill ^ | July 7, 2018 | John Bowden

Posted on 07/07/2018 1:43:23 PM PDT by jazusamo

Former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) warned Republicans against continuing their "assault" against Robert Mueller, writing in an op-ed Friday that the GOP must let Mueller continue his investigation.

In an opinion piece for The Washington Post, the former Tennessee Republican urged Republicans to fight for the "rule of law," even if it meant going up against the Trump administration.

"I am also a Republican because I believe in the rule of law. Republicans must fight for that principle today — even if it means pushing back against a Republican administration," Frist wrote.

"It isn’t easy to tell a president of your own party that he is wrong. But the assault on Mueller’s investigation does not help the president or his party," he added. "[But] the president must remember that only Mueller’s exoneration can lift the cloud hanging over the White House."

Frist went on to argue that claims of "runaway legal authority," such as those made by former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort in an attempt to have the charges against him dismissed, do not hold up when compared to Mueller's record.

"I have worried over the years about runaway legal authority, and I’ve battled against activist judges. I don’t worry about Robert Mueller," he said.

"And his investigation is getting results: By any objective standard, he has moved swiftly, obtaining 23 indictments and five guilty pleas in just more than a year."

Trump has frequently characterized Mueller's investigation as a "witch hunt," and has accused the special counsel of going beyond the original scope of the investigation to pursue charges not related to alleged Russian election interference.

Republicans have frequently pointed to text messages sent by former members of Mueller's probe as evidence of pervasive anti-Trump bias that they say tainted the investigation from the start.

That’s because Mitch has been in politics since he was knee-high to a June bug. Dr. Frist only got into politics the moment he declared for the Senate in 1994. He was attacked for not having cast votes for office before he ran. As I said, he was fine as a backbencher, but he couldn’t handle a leadership position against others who had spent their entire lives either in or running for office. Dingy Harry had 4 decades in the political game when Frist had just 1 when he was made Majority Leader.

I thought Frist was pretty much a good guy when he was in the senate. You just can’t trust any of these bastards anymore.

His "naughty pics" of him with a live boy and a dead girl have "motivated" to speak out for his team, the Uniparty...

Notice how the ONLY Republicans who get copy are those attacking Trump. This is intentional.

The GOP is digging deep into the SWAMP to undo what President Trump is doing and appears what is to come. How did we ever survive these compromised bastards? My guess is the agreement between Republicans and Democrats on relying on deception and compromise with assurances of “mutual destruction” if either violates the “understanding”. In the meantime, SCREW THE PEOPLE.

I’m with you on that. Wishful thinking on my part. I just know that Trump never does anything small.

On top of all this, Mike Flynn entered a guilty plea late last year ... and his sentencing has just been postponed AGAIN -- for the third time. Perhaps Mr. Frist can weigh in on this and explain what this is all about. At the rate the DOJ and FBI are being completely discredited, Mueller might end up begging Flynn to withdraw his guilty plea.

Sounding more all the time that Mike Flynn hasn't entered a guilty plea.

Mueller seems to have more power than the President. An if Trump does not shut it down, America is finished.

He had the backing of former Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker and was head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which was very successful at fundraising during his watch. A lot of senators owed him.

Those worthless sack-oh-shites go into a huddle weekly and decide which one will put out that week's 'craptacular' missive.

I glance at the headline only and don't bother with the read.

Why do these people feel so compelled to come out and tear down president Trump? Bill Frist?! Seriously nobody cares what he has thought in over a decade.

As president Trump hits his stride Dr. Frist thinks it necessary to defend Mueller. Its staggering how tone deaf these RINOs are and simultaneously loyal to the uniparty vision. Perhaps its just jealousy.

To my way of thinking stuff like this indicates the Mueller investigation is in serious trouble - the cabal is sending out the call for supporters of the cause to lend their voice to support Heir Mueller.

Doesn't this even go back to when Manafort still had ties to the Podesta group? Besides, the bank exec never got a job in the Trump administration.

I mean really, is Trump accountable for every clown who wants something and doesn't get it? Of course not. This is name dropping. This is all they have.

where was all this ‘rule of law’ crap when the democrats were in power?

or are republicans only concerned with the ‘rule of law’ when certain people are involved?
