But.
We are now running the largest trade deficit in recorded human history, between two countries, EVER. With China.

Last year, was the largest recorded trade imbalance. Ever.
Now look at this year.
EVERY SINGLE MONTH (including May, which this post is about) on the entire chart, has a HIGHER TRADE DEFICIT than even last year.
We are going to set yet another trade deficit record, once again this year. It appears.
Again, I am not at all criticising you.
But really, our trade situation with China is the worst in recorded human history.
The worst.
And it continues to get even worse.

nobody wants to be lied to, but the headline doesn’t say it’s gone or is low, but lowest point in 18 months due to RECORD HIGH exports.

So the President is right to focus on trade with China.
You don’t think that exporters are shipping everything they can now so they don’t get caught with merchandise that they have to pay tariffs on do you? If I were exporting to China, that’s exactly what I’d do. Get my stuff over there before China hits it with extra tariffs. That rush to beat the deadline would make the numbers spike.
