Obama chose not to try to win over his opposition, but to alienate it by veering hard left in his second term. Hillary Clinton foolishly got herself into a number of personal scandals that embarrassed her party and helped lead to her defeat.
In reaction to the sudden loss of political power, Democrats would have been wise to run to the center, as did Bill Clinton, who all but ended the era of the Reagan Republicans.
They could have dropped their obsession with identity politics and instead attempted to win over blue-collar voters with more inclusive class appeals rather than racial appeals.
Instead, Democrats have endlessly replayed the 2016 election. In Groundhog Day fashion, Hillary Clinton repeatedly offered tired excuses for her loss.
To progressives, Trump became not an opponent to beaten with a better agenda, but an evil to be destroyed. Moderate Democrats were written off as dense; left-wing fringe elements were praised as clever.
Voters in 2016 bristled at redistribution, open borders, bigger government and higher taxes, but progressives are now promising those voters even more of what they didn't want.
Furious over the sudden and unexpected loss of power, enraged progressives have so far done almost everything to lose even more of it.
And that paradox only leads to more furor.

They’re like children who didn’t get their way and are throwing a tantrum.
I would make this observation. If 7 November arrives, and the GOP doesn’t lose a single House seat, and the GOP gain two or three Senate seats (which I anticipate)...after all the Fake News, Russian-meddling talk, hype on the immigration stuff, etc...there’s no plus-up for two whole years of anti-Trump effort, then they are screwed for 2020.
Even the mojo of former President Obama probably would not help them at this point.
It’s surprising when they sit there and try avoiding the topic of three-million jobs created, and how they missed the chance to be part of the success....is what gets me. There were a hundred ways to play out the past 18 months, and they selected the worst possible way of gamesmanship.
The Left is stuck in a self-destructive feedback loop. This will continue until they lose badly in the November elections. Then I think they will abandon the political process and just turn to violence.
I noticed a trend decades ago that Leftists wanted schools to teach “Critical Thinking”. But this wasn’t about logic and reason and analysis. No, no, no. For the Left, “Critical Thinking” just means blind acceptance of Marxism or its equivalent.
The Leftists on the scene today — even the “intellectuals” — have almost no ability to use real tools of logic, reason and analysis. They never learned. They don’t see the need. They only know how to tell lies or to shout down their opponent if the lies don’t work.
When they really comprehend that their game is a failure, they will burn the cities down.
Now there’s #WalkAway… is #WalkAway a rejection of Liberalism, or a desire to return too it?
To reject (aka: #WalkAway) not the traditional values of classic Liberalism, but the Leftist authoritarianism, race baiting, identity politics, calls for violence, censorship, blind hate of Trump and his supporters and seeming hatred of the old working class Blue Collar Democrat coalition… (once the backbone of the party). That which the party has now apparently become? #RestoreLiberalism #RejectAuthoritarianism
Seeing the number of 1% Hollywood and media celebrities spitting vile venom and angry condemning of Trump and all who support him, has the Democrat party abandoned its old roots and now become the party of the rich gated community 1% and the cheap labor of illegal immigrants? Seems to me almost a desire to return to a form of feudalism (rulers and ruled, not governed by consent). #OneWonders?
If democrats can’t keep total power they have no problem to do anything to weaken the country.
The hire people from the shallow end of the gene pool to be their moth piece they wonder why no same person trusts them they abuse the use of stupidity.

Inflexible, rigid liberalism....as democrats used to accuse others.
I watched the old “In Search Of” episode on Jonestown, the other day. It couldn’t have ended any other way. It’s the same with the Democrats, and that should be scary. Their politics are completely understandable, in the correct light. The comments from the “pundits” show that they do not know what is going on.
Write-ups like this and most of the drivel from FAUX News also sound like they are from sportscasters, commenting on a game. “They should do this...” or “They should have done that...”. It sounds like they just wished the game were more exciting.
Jonestown wasn’t a game, and that kind of ending is what is really at stake, here.
That show creeped me out a few times as a kid.
Now it’s funny to watch.
I expected the ‘rats to slow down over time on their protesting ,but
They are getting more deranged every day.
Now they’re in ‘one uppsmanship’ mode.
Each trying to out protest, verbal abuse, confrontation the previous.
The idiotic crescendo keeps building.
So far its been primarily verbal, limited confrontational.
But I expect it to get physical, rioting, who knows what.
Liberalism is truly a mental disorder.
I can't recall who said it, but what was said was this:

I am increasingly concluding that the “Blue Wave” is a myth. As the article says, there is nothing positive being put out by the “progressives”.
Think back to the most noteworthy parts of Hillary’s campaign. Her three major proposals for improving the country were …. ?? (crickets chirping)? Instead, her campaign consisted almost exclusively of “Don’t vote for Trump, you deplorables, he’s a bad man!”
I’m not aware of any improvement in the democrat message … in fact, it’s only gotten worse.
Man, these two would begin frothing at the mouth and become very aggressive verbally just at the mention of DJT/God/Conservatism/border security...on and on.
I have no doubt whatsoever these two would resort to physical violence. Keep your friends close...enemies closer. lol

What the commentators keep forgetting is that the MSM overplayed its hand in the 2016 election. By attacking Trump 24-7 and virtually every newspaper and media outlet endorsing Hillary they led most of the public to conclude they were biased and untrustworthy.
They made their bed, now they have to lie in it.
Nobody cares about the MSM anymore—they are now well understood as leftist/Democrat propagandists—and ignored.
There is no audience of “moderates” to receive their propaganda anymore.
It is too late to walk it back...
