Kethledge sounds good.
Save the woman appointment for RGB’s seat, it will be required for that one.

He looks like a good choice. I’d like to see more experience and more of a track record for Barrett first before giving her the nomination.

“Kethledge doesn’t have the Harvard/Yale pedigree that POTUS is reportedly seeking but then neither does any other shortlister with the notable exception of Kavanaugh. He is, however, a former Kennedy clerk, just as Gorsuch was; in the legal world, Supreme Court clerkships are the ultimate credential for a young legal talent, much more so than a Harvard or Yale diploma is. Kethledge also has a Rust Belt background as a Michigan grad and current member of the Sixth Circuit. He’s a hunter and fisherman too, another cultural departure from the “coastal elites” who typically dominate the Court. If Trump wants to pay back the people who elected him in 2016, putting a midwesterner on the highest bench is one way to do it.”

YES! Enough of these NE Harvard/Yale people. Time to break the mold.

When Kethledge is in northern Michigan, he works in an office he created in a family barn near Lake Huron. The office has no internet, a wood stove for heat, and a pine desk for a work space.[6] He has spoken publicly about hunting with his son in the Michigan wilderness.[7] He is the grandson of Raymond W. Ketchledge, an engineer who invented an acoustically guided torpedo that was used to sink dozens of German U-boats during World War II.[8]

No, it won’t.

Screw the RATS. They’d never going to vote for anyone Trump would nominate anyway, and screw the Republicans, too if they’re not 100% on-board. They need to grow a pair or be taught to realize that many among we-the-people are every bit as sick of THEM as we are of that other party.

The Bush League Republicans still control the Senate.
Until we replace them they will be a problem.

Ditto, that.

Pick the BEST person for the job. I can’t believe so many here buy into the left’s identity politics BS.

I like both Kethledge and Kavanaugh.

A couple more of the guys are thinking of leaving and I would prefer not to have more women than men. If we get a woman, then there would be five. Then you’ll hear the screams about a mommiefied court.

Hope he bumps off Brett Kavanaugh as a finalist.

Barrett, Thapar, and Kethledge seem to be the best of the bunch that have been mentioned.

For Conservatives the best thing would be to have another Antonin Scalia on the Court.

So wouldn’t the best candidate be one who clerked for Antonin Scalia?

Kethledge and Kavanaugh clerked for Anthony Kennedy. Nobody but the Democrats want another Anthony Kennedy on the Court.

Thapar didn’t have a Supreme Court clerkship.

Barrett clerked for Antonin Scalia.

Case closed.

Understood - but in our case it is optics more than identity politics - indeed, designed to undermine the entire concept of identity politics.

Kethledge and Kavanaugh clerked for Anthony Kennedy.

So did Gorsuch.
