People of Praise was founded in 1971 in South Bend, Indiana, with a core group of 29 people. The group is part of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal movement, which arose in the late 1960s as a blend of Catholic traditions and Protestant Pentecostalism. By the late 1980s, according to the World Christian Encyclopedia, up to 10 million people in the United States were participating in the movement in some way. Some simply participated in prayer groups. But others started groups that emphasized a more holistic kind of intentional community living: not necessarily living under the same roof but committing to share one anothers lives.
The original South Bend group now includes about 350 members, split into several smaller branches. About 450 people belong to People of Praise in the Twin Cities area in Minnesota, about 200 in Northern Virginia, and other smaller groups operate in 11 other states. The group also operates three Christian junior high and high schools in its three largest areas. (Lent pointed out that the schools teach the theory of evolution.) Lent says its members include Catholic priests and at least one bishop, as well as plumbers, carpenters, teachers, and mathematicians. Lent himself is a professor of physics and engineering at Notre Dame, where Barrett taught at the law school until last year.
...
People of Praise is an ecumenical group, which means it accepts members from many Christian traditions. The only theological requirement of membership is to be a baptized Christian and to believe the Nicene Creed, a standard Christian statement of faith. Lent said the group considers abortion a morally wrong act but takes no position on abortion policy, comparing it to the way that greed is morally wrong but what that should mean for policy is up to individual discernment.

The more I hear about Barret, the better she sounds.
Incidentally, neither Kagan nor Sotomayor, Zero’s appointees, has any children. They are the only two current Justices without children. Coincidence?
"The People of Praise also has roots in the Cursillo, an evangelistic movement founded in Spain by Catholic laymen in the 1940s, which spread to Mexico and the United States, influencing some of our founding members." (https://peopleofpraise.org/about/who-we-are/)
Full disclosure: I attended Lutheran Cursillo (back when it was still called Cursillo) in 1981, sat at the table of St. Luke.
The left will distort this innocent information for its own ends.
Are there any Protestants on the Court?
My late father, although Lutheran, helped run several Dutch Reformed cursillos and palancas.
I forgot about that Obama song. Those kids must be voting age now. Wonder how they feel, after being used and sold that bill of goods that Obama will save the world. How does that affect their vote?
Exactly...Keith Ellison (DEM) is a member of a huge cult....
The Devil hates faithful Christians. The Devil’s followers in, for example, the ‘Rat Party express his and their hate.
...depends on how much their Odungocare is costing them....
If Amy Coney Barrett wins the nomination and she is attacked by the Democrats at her Senate confirmation hearings because of her religion, she will have a golden opportunity to:
1) make them look like anti-Christian bigots; 2) discuss the Constitution’s freedom of religion clause in ways that make the Democrats look like pathetic ignoramuses; and 3) gain future Republican votes from Catholic Democrats who are fed up with having their religion disrespected by arrogant hacks like Patrick Leahy and Dianne Feinstein.
Yes, and BHO and Hitlary had chief of staff who were militant muslims and CIA Chief Brennan was a communist who converted to islam. Is this all a coincidence?
Nope...Not at all...2008 and 2012, the elections almost ruined our country...We are going to be a while recovering and it’ll be even harder unless the Lame Stream Media is dealt a death blow...
It is still hard for me to believe so many American people voted the way they did in 2008 and 2012...Especially 2012 after seeing what that Muslim slimeball did the first four years...
What I know of these Charismatic Catholics tells me they are truly born again believers. There is a former priest in this area who was active in charismatic gifts, and personally led a number of his parishoners to faith in Christ, a la protestant soul winning. The Church cracked down and kicked him out. Various active and former catholics support him financially and take care of him. I as a protestant consider him an honorable man.
So long as they acknowledge Yashua as Messiah and believe on Him for salvation I don’t care.
Dear leader Zer0 tried to bankrupt the USA using doubling of debt, energy regulation and taxes to drive up energy prices and giving our enemies an advantage over us whenever he got a chance. He clearly hated the USA as much as his mentors Frank Marshall Davis and Saul Alynsky.
Barrack Obama attended a virulently antisemitic church that hated America. Funny, that was rarely mentioned by the media.
That was fast? She was put on the appellate court just 7 months ago after the left going crazy over her being a “Catholic”. All the research was done back then. You don’t follow such things?
FALSANI:
What do you believe?
OBAMA:
I am a Christian.
So, I have a deep faith. So I draw from the Christian faith.
On the other hand, I was born in Hawaii where obviously there are a lot of Eastern influences.
I lived in Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world, between the ages of six and 10.
My father was from Kenya, and although he was probably most accurately labeled an agnostic, his father was Muslim.
And Id say, probably, intellectually Ive drawn as much from Judaism as any other faith.
So, Im rooted in the Christian tradition. I believe that there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people. That there are values that transcend race or culture, that move us forward, and theres an obligation for all of us individually as well as collectively to take responsibility to make those values lived.
And so, part of my project in life was probably to spend the first 40 years of my life figuring out what I did believe Im 42 now and its not that I had it all completely worked out, but Im spending a lot of time now trying to apply what I believe and trying to live up to those values.
FALSANI:
Have you always been a Christian?
OBAMA:
I was raised more by my mother and my mother was Christian. (DTW Note: Later his mother marries a Muslim)
...
FALSANI:
Whos Jesus to you?
(He laughs nervously)
OBAMA:
Right.
Jesus is an historical figure for me, and hes also a bridge between God and man, in the Christian faith, and one that I think is powerful precisely because he serves as that means of us reaching something higher.
And hes also a wonderful teacher. I think its important for all of us, of whatever faith, to have teachers in the flesh and also teachers in history.
...
FALSANI:
Do you have people in your life that you look to for guidance?
OBAMA:
Well, my pastor [Jeremiah Wright] is certainly someone who I have an enormous amount of respect for.
I have a number of friends who are ministers. Reverend Meeks is a close friend and colleague of mine in the state Senate. Father Michael Pfleger is a dear friend, and somebody I interact with closely.
FALSANI:
Those two will keep you on your toes.
OBAMA:
And they’re good friends. Because both of them are in the public eye, there are ways we can all reflect on whats happening to each of us in ways that are useful.
I think they can help me, they can appreciate certain specific challenges that I go through as a public figure.
