I know it's an older article, but it's certainly relevant to what's going on now. Kavanaugh is one of the "five" remaining possible nominees for the Supreme Court, according to the same left/liberal media outlets that named Amy Coney/Barrett as one of those choices.

After seeing the push here for Amy Coney/Barrett, my question is this. Why do FR Catholics tend to push women so hard for government positions? Kavanaugh is Catholic, too, and unlike Ms. Coney/Barrett, his position in favor of the Second Amendment is known.

Are some Freepers against our Second Amendment, perhaps because of Metropolitan lifestyles? Is it feminism? What's up with that?

[Emphasis mine in bold in the article.]

And this. It's nice, but is there a religious preference specific to third world nations for philanthropy or immigration? I'm trying to understand preferences in regards to the issue being discussed so much.

I really don’t know much about the Judicial candidates (I admit I should, given the importance of the Supreme Court judges, but I don’t), but given all of the caterwauling about this Judge Amy person - she rates high in my eyes. I’ll trust the Good Lord to guide President Trump to pick the right person.

I don't think that's it.

More likely, some are hoping to gain a nominating edge by appealing to Dem identity politics. "She's a woman and a mother..."

I don't think that works very well, because Dems aren't consistent and have no problems with hypocrisy. It's all about what they can whip up the crowd with for the coming elections, now and in 2020.

I’m thinking Kavanaugh because he clerked for Kennedy. It would be a nice parting gift to Kennedy for stepping aside at this point to allow for an appointment of another conservative. My preference is Amy Barrett, but she would make a great replacement for RBG

Why do FR Catholics tend to push women so hard for government positions?
******************************************
I’m neither Catholic or a woman but I happen to think the two women in the “final five” are outstanding candidates. And the fact that they are 47 and 40 respectively is a BIG plus. What bizarre thinking leads you to believe that those who find either or both of these women well qualified must be opposed to the 2nd Amendment and/or must be feminists?

https://abovethelaw.com/2018/07/americas-next-top-justice-judge-brett-kavanaugh-or-judge-raymond-kethledge/

My choice is Kethledge -far and away. Originalist, writes his own opinions (unheard of), not Harvard or Yale, but #2 in his class at Michigan, clerked for Kemnedy, hunts (with guns!) fishes, married with two children. He is an “outsider”. Not part of the D.C. swamp.

There’s a lot more to recommend him, the above article is an interesting comparison between he and Kavanaugh.

If I were on the vetting team, my number 1 concern would be where they stand on immigration issues. These other matters are important too, but immigration is at the point of ruining our country forever.

“Why do FR Catholics tend to push women so hard for government positions?”

I see more posts about there being too many Catholics on the SC. If it was that important you would think one of the Protestant presidents would nominate someone besides a Jew or Catholic once in a while.

According to Mark Taylor, President Trump will end up replacing 5 SCOTUS judges of which this is only the second, and Roe vs Wade will be overruled eventually. God will have His way with all of the replacements, who will be from “His tree” (i.e Christians), Mark Taylor prophesied. According to prophet Charles Shamp: “Tonight while in prayer I heard the Lord say, “Get ready for my Deborah will arise and take her place!”. It looks very likely, if this prophecy is correct, that the Kennedy replacement will be a woman.

Deborah was a famous judge and prophetess in the Old Testament. She was much revered, and held the position as a judge for 40 years. Could this point to a younger ‘Deborah’ being chosen, who could be a SCOTUS judge for maybe 40 years? Someone like Amy Coney Barrett? Isn’t this what President Trump is hinting at? For political reasons, she could be a great choice. However, it’s God who has the final say.

Having done a conservative survey on three “conservative” area issues. We used various lists of and directories of folk to gauge voters on pro-life, Second Amendment and school choice issues, with 5 to 10 questions relating to those issues sprinkled throughout the questionnaires.

It was very eye opening to me of the education that conservative “leaders” still had lots of work ahead.

At that time, those who were in favor of pro-life, pro-family issues seemed to care little about the Second Amendment, or rather think it wasn’t endangered, while the strong Second Amendment folks were either not concerned about pro-life, pro-family or worse yet, said they were “pro choice!”

Lastly, as our local school districts score high nationwide, both of the other two groups but especially the gun groups were pretty negative as a whole on school choice. As the groups of voters who were interested school choice represented the smaller of the other two, we didn’t give as much weight to their feelings on life, though quite positive but uninterested in the Second Amendment issues!

Granted, this has been quite some time ago (pre Obama) since we did the survey and the US has definitely changed drastically for the worse, I was stunned then and remain so today, that the gun folks (and I count myself on that group) were ambivalent about other social issues. Our last question was optional for those who agreed to be surveyed, was regarding faith and any church sttendance.

Regular church attendees were strongly pro-life and even a number were in favor of school choice (my thoughts in that question would be many more in favor no matter how the scholastic level of their school districts.).

Sadly, the pro gun folks were the lowest on any regular church attendance and I don’t think the pro gun folks have moved much on issues of life or school options.
