Empirical SCOTUS blog sees Brett Kavanaugh as likely SCOTUS nominee
ABA Journal, American Bar Association ^ | December 12, 2017 | Debra Cassens Weiss

Posted on 07/02/2018 7:05:47 PM PDT by familyop

Kavanaugh would be attractive to conservatives because of positions he took on two hot-button issues: gun rights and abortion. Kavanaugh dissented when the appeals court rejected a challenge to a Washington, D.C., ban on assault weapons enacted after the Supreme Court found an individual right to own guns under the Second Amendment. Kavanaugh also dissented when the full D.C. Circuit required the U.S. government to allow an abortion for a 17-year-old immigrant who was being held in a shelter because she is in the country illegally.

There has never been a woman USSC justice that wasn’t a liberal, and it’s my guess there never will be.

Women make great wives and mothers, but too liberal for the bench.

I stopped going to churches for the same reason that I avoid taverns and other houses of assignation. And I home-schooled the kids. Romanticists are liberals. :-)

*** “His Obamacare rulings are nothing but blabber...truly nonsensical gibberish” ***

Gates are yet to be filled and not even opened yet, he is still prancing at the Starting Line

I don’t think he is as high on the list as he thinks he is

Yep, I like those 3 as well, though thinking strategically, saving Barrett for when RBG leaves makes sense. She has less experience and it does her no harm to be in the wings..

Read on Twitter this morning that per “sources” Kethledge impressed the president in yesterday’s interview.

Kavanaugh is approved by Karl Rove, which is a shame for him, better Rove keep his mouth shut.

Agreed. He has support of the D.C. gop establishment. That doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a great justice either, just something to note. But my pick, Kethledge hangs outdoors, he’s a hunter, fisherman and does something very rare- he actually writes his own opinions:)

There’s a thread that indicated Kavanaugh was involved in “saving” obamacare.

If true, Kavanaugh could be another Dread Pirate Roberts.

I think that’s accurate-it seems Kavanaugh was correct on his legal view, but had unfortunate effect. Otherwise he seems sound, and might be a good pick. But to me, Kethledge is exceptional - see link below for another reason.
