New York Democratic congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tore into a conservative TV host who tweeted a picture of her childhood home in an attempt to discredit her.
John Cardillo, a host of Newmax's "America Talks Live," shared a picture of Ocasio-Cortezs childhood home in Yorktown Heights, falsely claiming she lived there until she went to attend Brown University.
This is the Yorktown Heights (very nice area) home @Ocasio2018 grew up in before going off to Ivy League Brown University, Cardillo tweeted. A far cry from the Bronx hood upbringing shes selling.
Ocasio-Cortez lived in the Bronx's Parkchester apartments before moving to Yorktown Heights at age 5 to attend a better public school then what was available in the Bronx at that time, according to her campaign website. She later attended Boston University.
The self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist is running as a Democrat in New Yorks 14th congressional district, which encompasses the Bronx and Queens after defeating incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley (D) in a stunning primary earlier this month.
Ocasio-Cortez fired back at Cardillo Sunday afternoon, saying she did not attend Brown University or any other Ivy League school.
I went to BU (Boston University), Ocasio-Cortez said. Try Google.
My mom scrubbed toilets so I could live here and I grew up seeing how the zip code one is born in determine much of their opportunity, Ocasio-Cortez wrote, noting that she grew up partially in a working-class neighborhood.

“She has to appear to be down for the struggle.”
The leaders of the Left ALWAYS come from well-off backgrounds. I doubt there is any exception to that.
That “dump” as you put it, is probably is worth over 1.25 million.
A lot of these hispanic immigrants and illegals start their own cleaning businesses. Damn good money particularly when you don't declare any of your income to the IRS.
Yeah — maybe there are people out there that would pay a million for the property and raze the house. Just makes me grateful I don’t live in places like that. :-) If they want to make the hypocrite charge on her they will need a better photo than that one which registers a “so what” with me.
Several of my church friends are housecleaners. It pays a lot better than retail work.
The Hills headline doesnt match the text of the article.
This is my shocked face.
According to realtor.com it’s worth about 350k.

I know some Irish women did that back in the first half of the 20th Century.

I was thinking it was closer to the city. Do you know what the zestimate on zillow is?
I think she’s going to win.
She and Hogg are going to be thorns in our side for quite awhile.
Not that they aren’t very mock-able.
David Hogg i don’t think is as savvy.
Hogg isn’t that smart by a mile, but he’s gun control.
Of course she’ll win. The Republican is just a name on the ballot, not a candidate who’s trying. However, that doesn’t mean another Democrat won’t take her out two years from now.
Yeah. You are probably right. It’s just that I grew up in a place that looked like that. So many battles to fight, but, I just don’t think we need to overplay here. She did not live in Beverly Hills or Brentwood. She is a leftist, therefore she lies. This is not even debatable. Lets not go too far here.
355k
The house is worth about $355k according to 2 real estate sites.
Looks like a 2 bed/1.5 bath cottage. Need to stop this zip code meme as it’s a dog that won’t hunt.
A modest home, yes. About the size of my grandmother’s home (2br1ba). But definitely not ghetto. And believe me, I’ve seen ghetto up close and personal.
George Soros has a huge mansion in Bedford, maybe 30 minutes away from where she grew up in Westchester.
