The 12-year-old daughter of two undocumented immigrant parents delivered an emotional speech at the Families Belong Together rally in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.
The girl, identified only as “Leah” in a CNN video, fought back tears while speaking out against the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy, which has resulted in more than 2,000 migrant children being detained and separated from their parents.
“Why do they hurt us like this?” She said. “It is unfair that they get to spend time with their families today while there are children in detention centers and in cages all alone missing their parents, who are thrown in jail.”
The thousands of attendees cheered Leah on and chanted “Shame” in response to mentions of Trump policies and family separations.
Leah shared her personal fears that her mother will be arrested and deported, saying that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) wants to “take away my mom from me.”
“I don’t like to live with this fear, it’s scary,” Leah said. “I can’t sleep, I can’t study, I am stressed.”
“I don’t understand why this administration won’t support mothers who just want a better life for their children,” she continued. “This needs to change.”
Leah said that she wanted to be “an example” to other kids with undocumented parents, and to tell them “not to give up.”
“We are all human and deserve to be loved and cared for,” she said. “We are children. Our government has to do the right thing and stop separating us from our parents.”

At 12 years of age, you should know crossing into the USA illegally is a crime.
Parents and their children that should know better that do crime should expect to do time, separately.

Her father’s jail? Her mother’s jail?
With the dangerous criminals in both jails, she would probably end up in solitary for her own protection.
What kind of insane, heartless sorry excuse for a human wrote her speech? Don’t they care about the kids?
We should change or implement a national policy based on a coerced speech by ONE twelve year old?

Without the law you have chaos. This little girl knows nothing of the law let alone the ramifications of failure to uphold the law. This is where the future war will start order vs chaos. Little girl you need to grow up .
Blame your parents, honey. They are criminal invaders in my country. They broke the law. They are the reason you suffer. Not Donald Trump.

There are those in line and in the process of immigrating through the system.
Any other foreign national within the borders, regardless of age, is a foreign invader. Very, very few are asylum refugees in accordance with the legal, written and well established definition.

If you want a better life, change things in your country.. OR come here legally.

The most popular cable channel in Mexico is just cameras facing the border checkpoints. A running banner saying something like, “Expect 20 minute delay at gate four as vehicles are being hand searched. Gate two has no delay. Dogs are deployed at gate three. All other gates five minutes or less.”
Thank goodness our Founding Fathers wrote the Bill of Emotions for the Constitution and made sure we’re a nation of un-thinking sympathies instead of cold cruel rule of law.
If I illegally snuck into Costa Rica with my kids I’d be nervous and stressed too

Every adult who is arrested in this country is separated from their kids. Sometimes this works to the advantage of the kids.
