Rod Rosenstein works for President Donald Trump, who can order the deputy attorney general to comply with subpoenaed document requests from Congress or face the consequences, former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy said Thursday on Fox News The Ingraham Angle.
The great irony I thought of the hearing was my friend [Rep.] Jim Jordan [of Ohio] really laying into Rod Rosenstein saying, Youre the boss. These people work for you. And the elephant in the room is that Rosenstein works for Trump, said McCarthy, a National Review contributor and former assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.
Trump can order this, McCarthy (pictured above right) continued, saying the chief executive has not received particularly good advice in leaving Rosenstein alone out of fear of being accused of obstruction of justice.
Thus, Trump believes that because hes been under investigation for obstruction, and because the critics of Trump have conflated in the public mind the Republican Congress pursuit of what went on with the agents who conducted these investigations and [special counsel Robert] Muellers investigation that if Trump acts to force disclosure and help Congress here, hes effectively obstructing justice.

Youre right there is 0 chance Rosenweasel will be impeached.
Because you want the maximum impact of such an order on the Fall elections.
Trump gave Sessions two priorities when he appointed him: 1) to restore integrity to DOJ/FBI, and 2) investigate and prosecute all thosevwho have broken the law. That’s what has been going on ever since.
I am convinced the plan is allow this deep-state obstruction to continue into November. It energizes Trumps base and makes the Democrats look like they are hiding the truth, which they are. Once the election is over, the Republicans have kept the House, and strengthened their majority in the Senate, Trump will clean house with a vengeful purpose. Sessions, the Keebler Elf, Rosenstein, and whoever else wants it, are swept away and the new AG starts to focus on the Clinton Foundation, Comey, and the rest.
That may be what you'd do, Sessions isn't going to do squat and anyone waiting for him to move is going to be waiting a very, very long time.
Congress could defund Rosensteins position.
He needs a few more Republicans in November then I think he will get control of this crooked mess.
They are sanitizing them.
You may think it's entertaining and that Rosenstein is hanging himself.
Meanwhile Rosenstein is getting exactly what he wants. He's preventing the prosecution of the Deep State including himself.
What Would John McCain Say?
That's why.
There are many reasons for Trump to stay out of this right now -
It is politically benefitting him - he appears to the the victim to his base and increasingly to independents
The longer the DOJ obstructs congress the worse it looks for the Special Counsel investigation
It is a matter of timing - he knows what happened (there is little doubt in my mind he already knows) so he can choose when and how to declassify documents and put out information that benefits him
I would bet there are things we are not yet aware of - i.e. prior admin involvement, etc etc. As long as this is hanging over their heads (not Trump) they are amazingly quiet contributing to the rudderless lurch to the left within the DNC
There are also likely some investigations behind the scenes that have not leaked. Trump is a fighter like we have never seen before so you know there are some counterpunches coming and as of right now he looks to be above it all
It will come out in good time - nobody trolls the media like Trump and he is a master of controlling the news cycle. Have faith.
What you describe isn't a "Constitutional crisis". The Constitution has an easy remedy if Rosenstein doesn't turn over the documents. The president can fire his subordinate.
No. The public seeing the what's contained in the documents is more useful.
Exactly. Rosenstein is small potatoes and a useful idiot at this point. I don't think for one minute that Trump and his inner circle haven't looked at a lot of the evidence and realized that the fish rotted from the head first. Obama, Hillery, Lynch and Holder have their necks on the block if Trump wants to go there... but, Trump isn't likely to push that little red button until after the mid-terms if indeed he wants to go there.
“...Meanwhile Rosenstein is getting exactly what he wants. He’s preventing the prosecution of the Deep State including himself....”
Not for long. He’s either gonna cough em up or he’s going to be impeached.
RR may be the first individual in recent history to actually make Congress get off it’s dead azz. We’ll see here over the next couple of weeks.
Occam’s Razor: Trump is satisfied with the job Rosenstein is doing. He’s not the one complaining. Trump can have that information released by making a phone call. Congress is the one doing the yelping.
For those who keep insisting “obstruction!” is why Trump won’t fire Rosenstein or Sessions- those two are administrators, they aren’t running investigations. The 1926 SCOTUS decision Myers v United States gives presidents the unrestricted authority to fire executive branch officials. Congress can’t impeach him for exercising a power that is solely his.
Trump can fire him and mueller too. And as regards the trump is letting them hang themselves theory that made some sense a long time ago. Not now. Theyve long since disgraced themselves. Its time to cut them down off the tree and give them merciful political burials.
Alright. Then we agree.
Although once he's been found in contempt or impeached, the Senate will never vote 2/3 to remove him. So at that point, Trump will have to remove (fire!) Rosenstein himself.
The conflict works to Trump’s electoral benefit. Therefore I expect that sometime after the midterms this happy-horsesh- is going to abruptly end.
Bingo
