Actually, what’s more terrifying is hearing the shooter reload knowing that because of Gun Free Zones and strict gun laws, no one will be able to take out the shooter while he’s reloading.

I think that’s the time to take out the shooter even when you aren’t armed.
4 would still be dead but maybe not nearly as many injured.
The point of these attacks is ambush. Ambush means you don’t want anyone to know what’s coming until you’re upon them. So it’s too late, even if you’re holding your handgun out in position constantly in terrified paranoia.

The Oklahoma City bombing was an Arab/Muslim terrorist attack on the United States, she says. Davis, author of a blockbuster book on the attack, The Third Terrorist, has examined and presented the evidence showing that Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh was in fact a front man for Middle Eastern terrorists. The third terrorist, in addition to the two, McVeigh and Terry Nichols, who were convicted, was an Arab. This was the mysterious “John Doe” who was never found. But other members of an Arab terrorist network were involved, she says.
She says the evidence was ignored and dismissed because the Clinton Administration didn’t want to go to war with Iraq, the likely culprit, and wanted to blame the attack on domestic right-wingers for political reasons.

Yea, most of Maryland except Baltimore City, Montgomery, Prince Georges and Howard County is pretty conservative. Large swaths of Baltimore county too.

Full choke would keep the pattern tight for a longer distance. Either use modified choke or the shotgun might have a variable screw-in choke system and just leave the choke out. Either that or a sawed off barrel would do maximum damage in close quarters go with out.
At my son’s college several years ago a shooter came in with a shotgun. Luckily he was only using birdshot - although one student was shot with the barrel against his head and died.
A gal took a blast to her chest from about 10 feet, turned and ran away.
While the guy was reloading, another student jumped him and kicked the gun away. The hero was a building monitor. He had least had some pepper spray (illegal on campus - but that was never mentioned), but more important he had the will. The pepper spray didn’t do much. The shooter pulled a knife, but the student was able to wrestle that away as well.

A reporter who survived the shooting tweeted that he could do nothing but hide under his desk and listen to the shooter reload.
That is because no one else in the building carried a gun. Only the bad guy. How sad.
So far my beautiful eastern shore is pretty conservative...but it’s seeping in.
