Court filings show Manafort received $10M loan from Russian lender

Newly released court filings have revealed that former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort received a $10 million loan from Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, according to Reuters.

The news outlet reports that an affidavit attached to a 2017 search warrant application was unsealed on Wednesday, and it showed that tax returns for a company Manafort and his wife controlled displayed the loan.

According to Reuters, the loan reveals closer links than previously known between Manafort and the Russian oligarch who has ties to the Kremlin.

FBI agents conducted a raid of Manafort's home in July 2017 after their application was granted. The raid reportedly provided Special Counsel Robert Mueller with key evidence in his investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

His investigation has included a probe into Manafort's financial relationship with Deripaska. Reuters reports that Deripaska is a metals magnate who is known to have close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Deripaska was sanctioned by the U.S. in April.

In addition, the affidavit that was unsealed displayed that Deripaska had financially supported Manafort's consulting work in Ukraine. The search warrant application also confirmed that Mueller is probing Manafort's role in a 2016 Trump tower meeting with a Russian lawyer.

When was this loan made? Was this during Manafort's Podesta association?

When was this loan made?

I looked through the entire article, and not a clue. Clearly they're trying to imply it was done while Manafort was working for Trump, but I don't think the timelines match up.

In Journalism 101 many years ago they used to teach you that every news story had to address “Who, What, WHEN, Where and How.”

The WHEN seems to be conspicuously missing from this latest Fake News.

Mueller and the FBI got more from Deripaska than did Manafort
The FBI colluded with Deripaska to run an intel operation in Iran to get back a missing FBI American asset

http://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/387625-mueller-may-have-a-conflict-and-it-leads-directly-to-a-russian-oligarch

At least Manafort was going to pay it back

Deripaska has thrown money at virtually every US politician since Bob Dole including the Clintons
Apparently buying political access is a hobby and business investment
This is supposed to indicate “ collusion” by Manafort and Trump?

No doubt Manafort has been treated extremely unfairly compared to many other players during the same time period, and singled out for a shake down prosecution. But I’ve also often thought that, with all these questionable foreign ties and associations in his past, he should never have accepted the position he accepted in the Trump campaign.

He should have known he’d be potential poison to the Trump campaign if anyone started delving into his past and that is just what’s happened. If you have a closet filled with skeletons, don’t involve yourself in campaigns vital to the candidate and the future of the nation.

Nothing will probably come of all this, but Manafort should never have taken a position in the Trump campaign.

He borrowed money from someone who is reputed to be close with Putin. Sounds incriminating. How close? Does he know Johnny Huang, Ng Lap Seng or Norman Hsu?

Manafort’s tax return reflected the loan. He didn’t try to hide anything.

never have accepted the position he accepted in the Trump campaign.

He should never have been RECOMMENDED for that position.

IIRC it was Jared and Ivanka who did the recommending.

The moment I read his name and did an internet search I knew he was going cause trouble.

But everyone said Trump needed Manafort to win the nomination.

And the deal with the devil was made and we see the results.
