A growing number of companies in Silicon Valley will now offer paid time off for their employees to protest the president.
The Washington Post reports that San Francisco startup Fauna used to have employees take time off on an as-needed basis; now, though, its workers can take unlimited time to participate in rallies, vote, write letters or other activities related to civic duty.
A notable company that is following suit is Facebook.

Thanks for a list of companies to place Put options.
This is all BS....
Washington Post is reference article, they should know.
Hoping those protests disable those companies, and they lose big money.
Yes, I like the way they try to tell everyone how respectful of their employees they are. Sure you can express your opinions...
...but you better not screw with our beliefs.
This trend is NAZI centeric. It’s feeding into a massive swelling of Leftist power that is already exhibiting the worst traits of early NAZI actions.
While they march to protest the NAZI actions they promise the Right will impose, they are the ones forbidding speakers on college campuses, carrying 4’ long clubs to public events, and harassing Conservatives in public.
This is NAZI Brown Shirt activity.
Any company urging their staff to protest against the Right, is a fundamental Brown Shirt sympathizer.
Civic engagement, eh? What if you go to the Trump rally? How would they know?
True or not, I don’t care. As long as it is a private business they can do pretty much what they want.
However, the stockholders may have a different take on the situation.
There already was a groupthink problem. Now you have China pulling their money out and the money is coming back to the U.S., only these guys put their money on the wrong horse. Complaining about that is going to make them look like a-holes, especially after all the abuse and ridicule they heaped on the people they disrupted (It looks weird to type that last bit, but yeah, sadly).
I think they still have to report their political contributions, how does that work, though, if the political contributions are against someone?

I’m guessing they’d ask for proof of some sort, maybe a selfie at the event. But you do bring up a good point. If you can get paid time off for “civic duty”, would that include attending a MAGA rally?
And if it doesn’t, I’d encourage conservative employees to say they’re attending MAGA rallies to “spy on the enemy”. Their employers are probably stupid enough to believe it.
Agreed...
Do these companies have a discriminatory hiring blacklist against conservatives who apply fo work?
Does this PTO policy for attending rallies create a hostile wotkplace where those who don’t vote the way bosses tell them to must comein and work while the rest of the department is out?
what is the corporate legal liability for any employee hit by rubber bullets, tear gas, etc at a corporate approved riot?
Will they pay for bail, medical costs, legal defense, etc?
If the political contribution is in the form of time off to protest, do you think the company reports it? I doubt it.
I was wondering what happens when these folks get arrested and charged with violent crimes. Most people can kiss their career goodbye under those circumstances but it appears to me that this sort of behavior is being encouraged. I guess making it impossible for people to get another job might work for some of these companies...
I think any Conservative that works for these companies should receive the same amount of paid time off to counter protest, and if not they should sue. Sure it’ll cost them their jobs because it’s obvious what kind of employers they work for, but fair is fair and equal under the law.
I was wondering about that. They aren’t contributing to a stated candidate, instead, they are doing a redo of the witch hunts.
I just wish they would stop being so eager to roll out the red carpet for any and all of our would-be overlords be they Chinese or AI!
