“There absolutely has to be a law on the books that addresses the safety or abuse intent on the intimidation of a President’s staff.”

On one of the Fox shows this afternoon, I heard that it’s a crime to threaten any Federal employee. Don’t know if it’s true.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all.

This is such elemental stuff.

You can’t have people threatening your employees. Sooner or later you wouldn’t have any employees.

While we all agree there need to be far fewer federal employees, they should be respected while still holding a position.

Free speech is getting your views aired. It is not walking up to people within inches and inferring violence is about to break out.

This is a crime. It should have a stiff penalty associated with it.

We all hated Obama. I wouldn’t have agreed with doing this to his staff. It’s not how you resolve issues at that level.

We have a House and the Senate as well as the Justice System.

Use your political might, but this isn’t acceptable.

Threatening government officials of the United States is a felony under federal law. Threatening the President of the United States is a felony under 18 U.S.C. § 871, punishable by up to 5 years of imprisonment, that is investigated by the United States Secret Service. Threatening other officials is a Class C or D felony, usually carrying maximum penalties of 5 or 10 years under 18 U.S.C. § 875, 18 U.S.C. § 876 and other statutes, that is investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. When national boundaries are transcended by such a threat, it is considered a terrorist threat.[1] When a threat is made against a judge, it can be considered obstruction of justice.[2] Threatening federal officials’ family members is also a federal crime; in enacting the law, the Committee on the Judiciary stated that “Clearly it is a proper Federal function to respond to terrorists and other criminals who seek to influence the making of Federal policies and interfere with the administration of justice by attacking close relatives of those entrusted with these tasks.”

It appears that just to threaten the kidnapping of a child is a violation of these statutes.

That guy that made comments about Barron should be looking for a good lawyer. He should need them in short order.
